Afghanada follows the lives of Canadian soldiers as they survive the war and becomes heroes. Episode 93 of starts off with, “the crowd in the turmoil is clapping and hollering, and then it hits me [Mason]. It is the uniform. They are clapping for me” (Mason episode 93). This shows that the soldiers, no matter their issues that they have faces or will face are heroes. Sergeant Kinsella is a female combat soldier that both Mason and Donelson look up too. Lt. Mason returns home a war hero, but his brother Danial was in the Olympics. At the airport a little boy asks Mason for a picture and not his brother. This starts the major conflict between Mason and his brother. In general, Mason feels weird that he got a picture and not his brother. This form of jealousy causes the brothers to fight in front of an audience to see who is a better fighter is. Daniel was not the smartest because Mason is still suffering from comate and beats him up so badly that he ends up in the hospital. His family fails to see that Mason goes into his combat mode and can really hurt someone. In episode 93, he attacks his nephew Andrew “Bolt upright in bed, see feet moving of my eye and I lash out at it. Reach for my weapon, ain’t there” (Episode 93). Mason’s family seem to believe that he was normal again. Sadly, in reality the fight and constant fear changed him.
