Multimedia Arts: Personal Statement

Multimedia Arts is the use of computers and other digital or electronic means to design and create visual effects for items such as, video games, commercials, presentations, brochures, and flyers for any type of company or business. My thematic core title allowed me to be flexible and branch out away from traditional degree programs available at the institution. It also allowed me to engage in more than one genre of art form such as public speaking, drawing and sketching, and video and audio. My thematic core includes course groupings in communication, art, business management and marketing, and child development. Communication courses and art courses helped me develop productions and designs, which are the key towards helping me reach my career goals. Interning at this facility completed my University Studies degree program as it aided me in gaining the necessary skills needed to run a business and create and design multimedia projects. It gave me a chance to display my talent in creating and designing flyers using different computer software such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. These skills ranged from communication, problem solving, cognitive engagement such as, coming up with ideas and mental calculations. In addition, engaged listening, analyzing data, creativity, hosting, and the usage of design software, and marketing techniques are also necessary skills I gained while interning at Nulook Bounce-n-Party. It appeared to be a vast amount of information learned at the time, but it was necessary information. Before I could design and create projects, I had to recall previous information on how to use the certain computer software. This was one problem I identified and resolved by viewing tutorials. Another issue I came across was not knowing how to convert my projects to picture formats, but I overcame this issue by searching the internet for steps that helped me fix my problem. A second goal I accomplished was the ability to underline and become acquainted with the operation of the business and its standards and regulations. I practiced and performed basic duties and operations of the business each day I visited the store. Some days I failed to remember to complete certain tasks like print out receipts for transactions that were made by credit card or debit card. I remembered to complete this task by ringing up the sale on the cash register during the same time I completed the transaction on the computer tablet. The business uses a computer tablet and square card reader for transactions made by credit card or debit card. Lastly, a third goal I achieved was the ability to demonstrate use of proper technique and skill in customer/client service and communicating with customers/client. This goal was not difficult to achieve as I had previous
