Compare And Contrast My Teaching Internship And Practicum

Decent Essays
My teaching internship and practicum have the following similarities:

they both are forcing me to step out of my comfort zones they both have and will have me working under a supervisor, who did and will guide me through the job duties they both are part of a degree plan and have a professor who I will have to report to both require reflections to be written about my experiences

My teaching internship and practicum have the following differences:

the practicum is associated with an online graduate course and my teaching internship was part of my course at the local university the practicum will be taking place at the high school level while my teaching internship was done at a junior high the practicum will be done after 23 years of teaching experience while I had no experience when I did my teaching internship obviously the practicum is happening when I am "middle-aged", while my teaching internship took place when I was young. I am hoping that my age and experience has made me a little wiser and less naive than when I was a teaching intern.

Ethics is the broad theme of ISLLC Standard 5. The activities related to this standard provided me with a means to reflect on my personal code of ethics, explore ethics from the perspective of a district official, and to hear others’ perspectives of ethics in the school organization. The first activity allowed me to interview Richard Stiverson, a school board member, regarding his code of ethics. The interview was insightful and did not veer far from what I consider to be ethical. With regard to this activity, I was able to grasp the notion that ethical behavior is paramount to building and maintaining trust in an organization.…

As I entered college, I pursued experiences that exposed me to the world of medicine, becoming more involved within my community and university.…
