Individual teachers may have different qualities that make them special, but overall teachers share some general qualities in guiding their classroom. Teachers need a basic understanding of their students, parents, and most importantly the community. When teachers have that basic understanding of others, they become more approachable. When students see that a teacher is someone they can talk to, they begin to loosen up. Another important quality is patience. This quality is essential to the teaching profession, as it is needed for successful teaching and learning. Teachers also need to be organized to stay on top of assignments, due dates, and upcoming events. “The most important tool we have for understanding the positive impact of cooperative learning is the four basic principles, symbolized by the acronym PIES (Kagan, S. & Kagan, M., 2009, p.4.2).” The classroom needs to engage all learners and motivate them as well as include mutual support. As the teacher, I will set classroom expectations, rules, and boundaries for behavior. Students will have an equal opportunity to explore and learn as a class, as well as one on one with the teacher. Within my classroom I want the atmosphere to be alive and free, but I also want students to adhere to the expectations of the classroom at all
