When people get older, it may become hard to find a teacher who is suitable to himself. A teacher is an element everyone has in their life, whether academic or not and whether they realize it or not. If I had a chance to build an ideal teacher, I would take it. I would probably give my ideal teacher qualities most of my teachers now have. The first quality to be added to my ideal teacher would be what type of teacher, and in this case it would be academic. My ideal teacher would probably teach English. English have always been somewhat of a struggle, for as far my memory serves. One hobby of sorts that has always been important to me is writing. I rely on it for many things such as my choice and style of words to get my points across, and it is important that I use them correctly. Once, in fifth grade at school, I wrote a short story. I worked really hard on it, pouring my heart and soul into it. When I finished, I gave it to my teacher, with low hopes that she would enjoy it. My teacher surprised me and told me that she enjoyed my story and that she was interested in helping me develop my writing skills. Since then, my confidence in my writing has boosted and my skills have become stronger. Reading helps me concentrate on writing while helping expand my tones in used. I find that I often run out of books to read, for few books specifically seem interesting to me now. My teachers in the past would, for the most part, help find interesting books and actually read my stories. These qualities are important for me to see in a teacher, because one day I aspire to publish a book and shine light upon topics untouched and not written often enough

As a student, I have gone through many teachers, all with lasting impacts, arguably, not all good. Although I cannot say I have looked through the looking glass of the teaching side, or walked a mile in any of my professor’s shoes; I’ve noted there is an importance to teachers who not only develop characters on a page, but the characters of their students. You, Mr. Smith, have dedicated your life to teaching students, enabling their comprehension. As Aristotle says, ‘Those who know, do. Those who understand, teach.’…

In Richard Rodriquez’ essay, “The Achievement of Desire”, experiences with education and how a desire to acquire knowledge has the possibility of straining family relationships are explored. Rodriquez describes himself as a scholarship boy; the type of student who is “Always successful” but “always unconfident”, he was “exhilarated by my progress” but “Sad” while being “anxious and eager to learn”, in conjunction with being “an imitative and unoriginal pupil” (Rodriquez 339). In essence, Rodriquez is saying that while was eager and excited about learning, he was also unsure of himself and his ideas. Rodriquez reflects on his experiences in the classroom when he states “A primary reason for my success in the classroom was that I couldn’t forget…

Writing has impacted my life and allowed me to look at books differently. After realizing all the work and effort that went into creating an elaborate story, I gained a better appreciation for how much authors do in order to present such amazing stories. I feel that I have a vast amount of respect for writers, but I also feel that writing is a chore and I tend to shy away from it. Reading and writing have impacted my life in numerous ways; in fact, reading books has impacted my life by expanding my vocabulary. My mother would read difficult books to expose me to broad new words to me at a young age. She would also have me study dictionaries, and continuously give me spelling test. When I got a little older I would start to read books on my own. I would read books that opened up my imagination; such as the series, The Magic Tree House.…
