The first component is the theme of the story or film or what it is about essentially such as love, or racism or political issues; secondly, another component of film is the focus of character. Characters are known as the “individuals who populate narrative or non-narrative films” (westga.edu/~bjames/componentsoffilm), they are the people we put the focus on at the beginning and end of the film, the ones we all analyze and try to relate to in some sense. Now setting and point of view kind of go hand in hand in terms of film as they both establish the film itself, bringing a foundation to this work. While setting can be described as not “merely peripheral but integral to the film” it sets the tone, and sometimes becomes the backdrop to the character(s), whereas point of view is the film as it is “the relationship a camera has to a person or action”, this is all about seeing the world from various perspectives and the effect it creates for viewers. Sound which needs no definition in any way, is what sets the mood for the film, we think of the musical scores in films that create suspense, or just the quality of sound that is created from the film itself in relation to the characters on screen. Literary techniques are something someone such as myself looks for, because if it makes a story exciting, then the use of techniques in film could lend a hand into making a film that much better, from irony and symbols to the sometimes spoiling foreshadowing. These techniques are not always used or needed in film, but from a bookworm’s point of view these make for an interesting perspective throughout the movie and creates more thought provoking once people leave the
