1) Use my desk lamp for lighting more over the standard dorm lightning since I have a LED bulb in it and gives off ample brightness.
-LED bulbs are by far more efficient than fluorescents since they give off more light than heat. These bulbs also seem to be much brighter and I find myself not being strained when I use it as a sole light source. Since my dorm room is already hot, it only seems smarter to use a light source that does not give off a ton of heat as well. Since I live in a single this seems like a viable solution since my room is very small and the desk light gives off sufficient light to illuminate the space.
2) Get another power strip to plug my TV and fan into in order to make cutting off their vampire draw accessible and easy.

Chris McCandless set out on an adventure in the wilderness of Alaska with hardly any supplies. “Alex admitted that the only food in his pack was a ten-pound bag of rice. His gear seemed exceedingly minimal for the harsh conditions of the interior, which in April still lay buried under the winter snowpack”(5). McCandless seemed to be smart but it was his naivety and stubbornness that led to his death. He thought he knew the way of things, however he had deeper research that should’ve been done before going on such a dangerous adventure.…

Zed’s words and actions have a lasting impact on both Carly May (aka Chloe) and Lois this shows us how much Zed means to both girls. The first mention of Zed as the kidnapper was when Chloe says, “I belong on the stage. Zed told me so, and I knew right away it was true” (Mitchell 17). This example shows how much Zed’s words lasted on Chloe, she thinks of Zed as being the person who knows her the best.…

LED lights use roughly 75% less energy compared to the standard lightbulb. Because LED lights conserve a substantial amount of energy, they last for a long time. On average, LED lights last over 30,000 hours (U.S Department of Energy). Due to the extensive amount of life LED lights have and the low maintenence, the school’s energy expenses will reduce considerably. In turn, the amount of money saved by using LED lights can be used towards bettering the education for the…

The increasing cost of energy and continuous depletion of energy reserves has prompted the people and governments to seek new and innovative way to minimize the consumption and maximize the utilization of the available energy. In line with this understanding came the invention of the light emitting diodes technology. Originally the light emitting diodes denoted as "LED" produced low light concentrations and were commonly used as indicators in electrical circuits and electrical appliances. This has however changed once they were discovered that they could produce more light and save on energy. The current LED appliances use a principle called electroluminescent.…

There are also some people who disagree with these statements, The sequel to Half-Life (in which all humans retain their body parts), Half-Life 2 comes with a program called "Source SDK," which allows gamers to open up and edit the engine that they slaved over for months to bring us, allowing us to make maps (or levels), characters, objects, even editing the game itself. Crime and violence numbers have soared in the U.S. Violent crimes, carjacking, and others have drastically dropped since 1975 (FBI'S Annual Crime Rates) in the letter Steven Johnston sent to Sen. The first source is a political cartoon dealing with the viability and success of modern liberal western democracy. The cartoon presents the perspective that such a democracy is ineffective and is crippled largely by apathy. In a democracy, good government is a dependent on good citizenship — which means citizens who will make informed decisions and participate in democratic processes. The cartoon suggests that American citizens cannot even be bothered to vote one of their most basic responsibilities as citizens. After finding which topic I wanted to work on from Intelligence squared I began preliminary research on the Common Core. Coming up with a question was far harder than I anticipated it would be. The internet contains a mass of information on the Common Core and multiple areas that could be questioned. At first, I questioned how the common core would bring up American schools to the same level as other countries, considering those in support claim it’s at an international level and will support us in competing internationally. However, the further I delved into the research the more questions came up.…

For the 2nd Synthesis paper I believe it would be in the best interest to expand the first synthesis paper I wrote earlier this semester. The topic was very interesting to me and although the paper was a finished product it definitely could have been further expanded. I am motivated to go back and add to the first paper because the medias impact on children minds was a really interesting topic and I would like to further expand my knowledge on the subject. I believe by exploring the benefits the media provides for children rather then how it causes them harm, will help give the paper more clarity and bring the readers to a more concrete conclusion. Although the first synthesis paper went into great detail about the dangers of the mass media…

To start off, I do not believe race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or ethnicity makes me incapable of working hard and achieving success in school. There might be obstacles in the way to get where I want to be, but that would never stop me. However, to some people it might stop them from achieving success in school if they believe what others say about them. For example, if someone does not know English, but learns English as a second language it makes him or her closer to achieving success and shows that he or she is putting effort in their education. I feel as though the only time someone makes their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or ethnicity stop from working hard or achieving success is if he or she gives up.…

As John Wooden once said, “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.” While most would attribute their religion, race, and ethnicity among the qualities that constitute their identity, I believe I am much more than my religious beliefs, the color of my skin, and where I come from. It’s how we react to the curveballs life throws at us and the little things we do without being consciously aware of them, the things we do “when no one is watching.” These different components of our identity allow us to form communities with those sharing similar qualities.…
