2. Many young children that worked in the early Industrial Revolution worked for long hours, under dangerous conditions, and for little money. It said on the website that a normal work week for a child under the age of 18 was 66 hours. Johnny started working and earning wages when he was seven years old and work hard for a long time. In the “I love Lucy” clip, both the women experienced alienation in the chocolate factor. The clip shows how these women are powerless in the fact that they do not have the strength or ability to complete the unrealistic expectation of wrapping the chocolates as fast as they are coming down the conveyor belt. Even Lucy says “I think we are fighting a losing game”. They are both feeling under pressure because they didn’t do well on the other tasks they were assigned and if they don’t do well this time they will be fired. They do not have a strong connection to the product because they did not get the whole experience making the chocolates. These women are rushing to wrap these chocolates but will not have the pleasure of seeing people purchase and enjoy the chocolates. For example, one woman says “this the fourth department I’ve been in”, and that shows how there isn’t much connection or meaning to her
