I had a wonderful time working with the great people in this professing. I would recommend everyone who going into some form of law to try to get an intern with some city court system. I can’t promise that their experience will be as great as mines but I will say they will leave know a great ton about what they are getting into with this career as well as new things about the court system all together. And if they are as lucky as me they will get to experience the madness we can campaign season because it pretty crazy. I would say this summer has just been great working downtown side by side with the people who basically control the city. And to put the icing on the cake I had 3 great readings to that went hand and hand with what I seeing every day in court with inequality. I can talk about how great of an experience it was for me but it would only tease you it just something I feel every college student should experience. An what I mean by that is every college student should have the chance to have in field experience in the field they plan on having a career in because it will allow them to make a final decision if that’s what they want to do before its too late and they a degree that never use which is a total waste of

In the spring semester of 2015, I started a paid internship at Woner, Glenn, Reeder, and Girard, P.A. During this time I have gained experience in legal research and language by helping prepare documents and observing proceedings. In addition, I have been able to work side by side with two female attorneys. Even in a small firm, they are the minority, which coincides to the other areas of the justice system. My internship with California State Assemblyman David Hadley has catalyzed an important inner-dialogue regarding the hierarchy of my ideals. As an intern, part of my job is to respond to letters about legislation that the office receives from constituents. I generally skim the letters and research relevant information for five minutes before I start writing as the Assemblyman. Every letter begins, “Dear Mr. XX” and ends “Sincerely, Your Assemblyman.” In between those two bookends, I write what seems like overly vague statements from David Hadley’s perspective, creating the illusion that he wrote the response instead of I, an eighteen-year-old high school student.…

Despite the system having much work to do to better itself, the fundamentals for it have been laid in place. Ropper vs. Simmons was a case about a seventeen year old juvenile who planned and committed capital murder. After he turned 18 he was sentenced to death.…

Learning about the legal environment in the classroom setting can be very interesting and exciting, but seeing a court in action is an entirely new learning experience. During my time spent at the Superior Court of Tolland at Rockville, I had the opportunity to observe multiple components of various court cases. Three cases that specifically stuck out to me were a criminal arraignment, jury selection, and a landlord/tenant dispute. Each of these cases had different elements that allowed me to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the United States legal system. The first case I witnessed was a domestic violence arraignment.…
