My Strong Subjects In School

Improved Essays
When I think about my strong subjects I do not think about writing. Writing has never been one of my strong subjects, in school. Actually let me rephrase that, coming up with ideas has never been my strong subject. If I can come up with an idea by myself, which I can rarely do, and am interested in it, I can write well. Usually though, I barely scrape by with an A- or a B on writing assignments. One memorable assignment though was last year in 7th grade. We were just free writing in class and I came up with this great idea. I would right a story about a talking donut. I know now it sounds like a dumb idea, but back then it seemed like a good idea. Anyway, I wrote a story about this donut, Jelly, that could talk and lived in Hampton. He had

The essay titled Writing, in the book The World Is a Text, by Patty Strong, the autothor explains how she believes "writing is thinking". She informs us how in highschool writing, students do not, as well are not, expected to put as much thinking into their writing compared to students that attend college. Strong points out that though teachers those of a college do care that their students do well, the students are on their own when it comes to their success. College students are expected to understand that their success is in their own hands therefore their writing better show that success is what they are aiming for. I have never enjoyed writing because I don't think I am good writer. I never want to sit down and write what ever is on my mind. English is one of my toughest subjects because since I’m not good at it, I haven’t taken the time to learn it properly, which makes it hard. In 8th grade, we were assigned a Research Paper. We were suppose to write at least 6-8 pages.…

I never considered myself to be an excellent writer but still thought I wrote well enough to get my point across without confusing the reader too much. However, any confidence that I had in my writing skills was lost for a short time when I had to write my first timed essay in school. Luckily, the timed essay assignment also helped me see that I needed to work on my writing and, as a result, actually turned out to be a more positive experience rather than a negative one. It was just another regular school day that was near its end, and I had one more class to go to before everyone was released to go home.…

Project #1: Literacy Narrative I remember walking across the lawn from our tiny add on classroom, up the stairs, and into the second grade class. Walking to my assigned desk directly in front of the window, I sat down in front of my best friend. Sometimes, sleepy and tired, I stared at the giant oak tree in our school yard and watching the clouds move. My first experience with writing was in fourth grade.…

“Writing Literacy Memoir” It 's strange how clearly I remember this paper ,where I can not remember what I did last week. It was a Thursday night sometime during May 2013 where it was a hot, humid night and I was exhausted. Where tomorrow I was supposed to start writing my paper about espionage agencies during the Cold War. It was a 10-page research paper on how the Cold War was impacted by the KGB, MI6, and CIA.…

Strong subject knowledge is seen to be essential for effective teaching, Schulman, (1986,1987) Eraut,(1994), Turner-Bisset (2001).Throughout the processes of planning, assessment, differentiation or feedback, proficient subject knowledge is deemed vital. With the new National Curriculum, DfE.(2013) focusing strongly on the acquisition of knowledge, the need for teachers to sustain high levels of subject knowledge across the curriculum has never been more crucial. Demands on a teachers’ subject knowledge can be particularly challenging across the Primary curriculum, when practitioners are expected to have a substantial level of subject knowledge in all curriculum subjects. Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

I have always thought of myself as a strong writer. My highest grades have always been in writing classes and it is for that reason that I am pursuing law (one of the most writing intensive professions imaginable). This semester my goals were not to improve the mechanics of my writing, I wanted to improve the theoretical aspect. with proof reading software, a monkey can write a sentence, I want to be able to write an argument. And I do believe that I have improved.…

As a future teacher I had my mindset of changing the lives of countless students. As students pass through my classroom they will learn to use language in many ways and apply this knowledge in many areas of life. The manipulation of language is a skill that has to be developed over time. Students write in every subject, with that said, writing should be the skill they constantly develop. Writing is a powerful instrument in which a writer imagines the audience, sets goals, call upon others to prove a point, draft and revise the text.…

As a writer I believe I still have a lot more to learn. In writing I think writing fiction is one of my strengths, for example I do enjoy writing short stories on my free time just for fun. I often share them with one of my friends and my cousin. I am still pretty shy about them, but they seem to really like them. Although, they are not the best stories I can spend a lot of time writing them without getting bored.…

Walking into English 28 that first Wednesday of class I had no idea what to expect. I was a bit nervous, being that I had been out of school for over 10 years and English is my least favorite subject, but I just wanted to get it out of the way, so I wanted to take it first. Surprisingly, I actually found the class very hopeful and easy to understand. I learned many different things. Among those things, three things really stood out, the writing process, different types of paragraphs, and relationships.…

There was a time when I was young and naive; more than I am now as this event is taking place around seven years ago. It was the ordinary school day, starting with my mom dropping me off through carpool, eating a granola bar in the car since I was late sleeper and whiner. Every single morning of my second-grade year, we started with vocabulary words and this day happened to be a Monday, meaning we would receive new words to cut and paste into a small notebook. Frankly, I did not enjoy that being the first activity of the day. Grammar has nevr and will nevre be my favorite subject.…
