Reflection On The Enneagram Made Easy

Improved Essays
It is crazy to think about the many different people there are in this world. Some people react to certain situations one way, and others could react in a complete opposite way. Also, certain people are more reserved while others might be more outgoing. The Enneagram Made Easy book describes the different personalities people have. The way it does that is by understanding earlier in life we use our natural abilities to cope with our personal circumstances (Baron & Wagele, 1994, p. 2). As we grow older, we begin to develop our own personality and who we truly are. It is unique how every individual is different in some way but in no way is any one personality better than the other. Although everyone is different, people with similar personalities …show more content…
I personally am more visual. In class, I am more likely to remember something if it is presented as a picture or demonstration than I am if the teacher is just standing at the front talking about it. Verbal information does not process in my mind as well as visual information does. One way that I use my visual style well is how I take my notes. I always highlight the most important concepts and then it is easier for me to remember them and also easier for me to find them. Although I believe the sensitive style best reflects me, the visual style is also an important factor in the way I …show more content…
I am definitely more sequential. As I have stated more than once already, I learn best when I follow something step by step. Sequential learners do not need to know the whole concept in order to solve problems like global learners do. We can get by knowing only part of it and still be able to do something with the information. I do have a hard time, though, when things are all scattered around randomly. It is hard for me to follow the information, but I am able to fill in the missing pieces most of the time (Soloman & Felder, n.d.). To me, sequential learning kind of goes hand in hand with sensitive learning so it also describes me pretty well.
It was interesting to take the questionnaire and figure out my personal preferences when it comes to learning. Since I now know how I best learn information, it is going to be easier to study for exams. I learned that the best way for me to retain information is by either seeing it or following a series of steps. Now when I take notes or study, I am going to still highlight but also I think it would help me to write it down. That will help because I will be seeing it not only once but twice. I think since I now know about my learning styles, I will be able to enhance my academic

According to the Learning Styles Inventory. My most developed and strongest learning styles are bodily-kinesthetic, verbal-linguistic, musical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The test reveals that I am not highly developed in any particular type of intelligence and I am weak and underdeveloped in visual-spatial, logical-mathematical, and naturalist intelligences. The book suggests that as a person with stronger interpersonal strengths, study strategies such as going over notes with fellow students are helpful. Based on my results as a strong verbal-linguistic individual, rewriting my notes in order to eliminate excess information and to hone into the important ideas, would be beneficial to my success in this course.…

The learning style assessment, in my opinion was very accurate with how I feel I study. The assessment consisted of a variety of questions that range from our everyday life out of school to the way we do stuff in classes. Some of the questions asked allowed you to choose multiple answers, which I feel they should have allowed this for the entire assessment rather than just a few. Once completing the assessment, it gave you a breakdown out of all three learning styles; audio, hands on, and visual, which one is your most used way of learning and then listed the rest in a different order following. Each individual learning style had a percentage next to it and also an understanding of what exactly it is below the scores.…
