What Is My Strength Essay

Superior Essays
Before taking the StrengthsFinder test, I knew I had strengths and I knew I had weaknesses, yet I never could pin point exactly what they were. After completing this test, I now have a better understanding of what my current strengths are. Now being in a college setting, I think there are a plethora of opportunities for me to use my strengths to help others grow in their personal life and their relationship with Christ. From this test, I learned my strengths consist of harmony, responsibility, maximizer, consistency, and discipline. These five strengths are not the only strengths that show up throughout my life however, they are the most distinct.

A Maximizer is putting your full potential into the job you are doing. This strength is not one that I imagined myself as having, although I do try my hardest in everything I do, especially when it comes to glorifying God. From school work, to sports, to socializing, I try my absolute hardest to achieve all that needs to be achieved and work hard at it. The most potent example which comes to mind was my senior year in high school. For our senior project in English, we had to do a 20-minute presentation and a ten-page essay. I worked as hard as I could to get the best possible grade on this assignment. I had a B in this class and this project itself brought my grade to an A. All of my efforts the second half of the semester were put into this project so I was able to show my best possible work in this class, and it paid off. As I have been attending classes here at Biola, I have not only noticed classes are much harder, but they take a lot more work than high school does. I can use this strength to try my hardest in all of my classes, and do my very best, even in the ones that aren’t my favorite. This strength also relates to my life after college and how I will present myself to students. If I show up to teach class every day and decide I am not going to put my full potential into my job, I might as well not show up. Maximizer is incredibly important in my future

My strongest ranking strength is empathy, which is the ability to “sense the emotions of those around you (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006, p. 46). I have used empathy a lot throughout my life by listening to others and by imagining myself in their situation. Over the years, I 've had coworkers confide in me problematic details about their lives. Being able to relate to what they were going through or how they were feeling, created some strong, lasting, friendships.…

The five greatest strengths shown to me by the Strengthsfinder Survey were Consistency, Belief, Responsibility, Developer, and Relator. I chose a life of Civil Service, in the Military and now as a Police Officer. Having Consistency and Responsibility I believe fit right into this life choice and in my opinion if you don't have Belief in what you're doing you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. I utilize Consistency on a daily basis as a Police Officer. I wholeheartedly believe each individual has the right to be treated fairly and on equal ground to anyone else regardless of social, economic or criminal justice standings.…

The more information I receive, the easier it is to fit the pieces together to solve the problem. I also plan on using this strength in school by focusing less on my weaknesses and more on my strengths. By doing so I will not get in my own way. I tend to over think things and this often gets me in trouble, especially when it is time to take a test (Clifton, Anderson & Schneiner, 2006). My second strength is also a weakness of mine.…

One day as I leisurely read, I stumbled upon the following quote, “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” On a website comprised of many short yet moving quotes, this one quote in particular was the most tangible to me in the entire collection. For weeks, I pondered on the very essence of strength and questioned what hardships have I endured and how was I strengthened by it.…

I might not be first in my class, or I might not always get the best grades in the class, but I always have that determination to work hard to be the best that I can possibly be. When I wake up in the morning and look at myself in the mirror, I always want to be able to tell myself that I will and have done the best that I can. Another strength of mine would have to be that I am well organized. I like to have all my academic school work organized, which I believe also helps me cope with time management. Being well organized, makes getting my school work done efficiently and due on time possible by knowing when my assignments are due, and where my assignments are, rather than losing track of my work which may take extra time out of my day to find that information, which ultimately gives myself less time to study and get the most out of my education.…
