My Stereotypes

The first thing that I put on my poster was the map. I chose the map because I want to travel the world. There is so much more to the human race than what is in the United States. I want to know about other cultures and learn the ways of them, I want to try new foods and listen to new music. I’ve fallen in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met. The next thing on my poster is the sand and seashells. I am in love with the ocean, I want to be a divemaster after I graduate college. When I am underwater I feel as if I am in another world, I feel as if the silence means that all of my problems have been lifted, even if it’s only for a short period of time. When I am underwater I am my happiest. The Soda Fountain Favorites …show more content…
I have a really big family. My cousins are my everything, I honestly do not know what I would do without them in my life. They have helped me through everything and we have been through everything together. I am beyond lucky to have them, were cousins by blood but best friends by choice. They know all of my friends because I am always with them. I honestly can’t imagine going a month without a cousin's night. I tell them everything and they know more about me than anyone. The scrabble letters that spell out family are there because I am so incredibly blessed to be in the family that I am in. They are the most supportive, loving and crazy bunch of people I’ve ever met. But when it comes down to it, I would do absolutely anything for them. The squid is also a representation of my support system. Hannah Nelligan, Hanna Gregory, and Caitlyn Newberry are my “squid” and I wouldn’t trade them for the world. I am not sure what we were thinking when we nicknamed our group “squid” but I am sure glad that we did. They are my three best friends and they somehow always know how to make my day better. I love them like they’re family. But over everyone else in the entire world, my sister means the most to me. She has been with me and has been the only thing that has kept me going after my mom died. When I think about my sister, I just want to be with her. After she went to college I hardly

Stereotypes are everywhere in the world. Our ridged expectations of a community are sometimes all we know about that certain group. The students had a preconceived idea about the Harvard students being snobby and the Law students thought the students would not take the task seriously. This chapter really hit on many stereotypes throughout the chapter and how powerful it can be when stereotypes are broken. I would never think to take my class on a field trip to a courthouse to participate in a mock trial.…

The main reason I love my family so much is because we were always together. We all had dinner at my grandmothers house and then we all went home, we did that everyday. My grandmother picked my sister and I from school and my cousin from day care, when we got to her house we did our homework with our parents or with my grandmother. Then we had dinner as a family all of us, which was my mom, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, godmother, godfather and my grandmother. Until my grandmother had stroke and we stopped meeting at her house cause she needed extra care.…

    Authentic Stereotypes

In my world I see both sincerity and authentic behaviors, but I feel like I’m in the sincerity side. Some examples on that side are realness, simple, meaningful, lyrics, truthfulness, and honesty and on the other side there’s brand, reputation, catchy, self-interest, and corporate. The reason that I believe I am more on the sincerity side is because I am always honest and sometimes it comes out really rude by accident, If I do something bad I have to tell my mom, one time I made a very bad choice at my brothers party and that night I felt so guilty so the next day I had to tell my mom. When I am listening to music a lot of the lyrics in the songs I can relate to and they have a very strong meaning like in the song I’m way to good at goodbyes…

In the article “Don’t Let Stereotypes Warp Your Judgment” by Robert L. Heilbroner, Heilbroner argues that we, as people, are too quick to judge others. He makes a point at the beginning of his article that we judge people based off of stereotypes that society produces. We don’t realize that we are making these judgments, but based on statistics, most Americans would describe “suspicious characters” as “dark and foreign-looking”. We as Americans treat stereotypes similar to gossip. We spread stereotypes around the country and world and plant prejudices in people’s heads.…

    My Family Stereotypes

My family consists of my mom, dad, sister and myself. We are just missing the dog named Fido, a ‘57 Chevy and a recipe book of casseroles to become the perfect 1950’s model suburban family. However I believe we are far from the stereotype for a boring vanilla family. This might be just because I am a member of it, but I think we are pretty cool. My sister is ten years younger than I, so we do not have the classic sibling rivalry in competing for attention.…

Overall I felt like this essay was the funnest and hardest essay to write. I enjoyed that I had the freedom to analyze anything such as a video, commercial, or picture.
