Essay On Spiritual Journey

My spiritual journey of faith has turned me into more of a “mutt” than a “purebred” Christian because of the variety of denominations and international churches that I have experienced so far in my life. For starters, I grew up in a “every Sunday” church family. In fact, I was at church the very next Sunday after being born. My first church was part of the Assemblies of God. However, a few years later my parents divorced and we ended up at a non-denomination church, where I spent the next 20 years. All through my childhood, I heard about Jesus and I remember being about four years old when my mother knelt beside me as I prayed the “sinners prayer” and asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I cannot say that it was the most powerful moment of my life; yet it was very significant start to my spiritual journey. This journey has allowed me to see the Holy Spirit bring Jesus alive in my life, call me into ministry, show me the works of the Holy Spirit, and become the voice that leads me every day. First of all, I was your average churched kid, creating as much mischief as the next little boy. Thanks be to God that I had a praying mother who kept me in church and showed me the value of scripture and prayer in daily life. It was not until 9th grade camp that …show more content…
I believe God’s Spirit moves in each of those people groups in a way that opens their hearts to his grace and freedom. I pray that I will not get in the way of the Holy Spirit’s work and that I will not get in the way of others finding Jesus. The Holy Spirit has given me a faith that Jesus is alive, I am called by Jesus, miracles still happen today, and he speaks into my everyday life. I believe that it is through the Holy Spirit’s work that has brought me this far and I believe he will continue my journey even

Believers are not created to be in isolation but to be connected to one another through small-group fellowships as well as in a large congregation, doing so allows church members to come together and experience a deeper connection with each other and most importantly with God. Further, as believers, we are all called to have the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is so much more than the way we think, but the essence of who we are within our heart and personality. We are called to be spontaneous and unique within ourselves, and to resist predictability and regulation of society and the increased use of machines. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are the biblical structure for what is essential to Christian…

The question I will be answering is the one concerning journeys. We have read and discussed in class a few stories that deal with journeys. The three that I will be looking at are, Asleep in the Lord, Artificial Nigger, and Remains of the Day. My story begins when I was only six years old. That was the year that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and He became a part of my life. At the time I did not know exactly what it meant to be a Christian, but I did everything a Christian would do since I thankfully grew up in a Christian home. It was not until I was a teenager until I fully understood what being a Christian meant. Experiences such as missions trips, retreats, and summer camps are what have shaped my relationship with Jesus.…

I was introduced to my Messiah, Jesus Christ on April 10,1977 at Prairie Creek Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. The key text for the sermon that Sunday morning was from Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” In a picture in my mind I could see Jesus with His arms open wide, inviting me to be His child. As the congregation sang the hymn, “Just as I am”, I walked down the aisle and prayed with the pastor to accept Jesus and to make Him Lord of my life. I was water baptized the following Sunday. From the moment I asked Jesus to be my Lord, our friendship began.…

Here in front of me was this homeless woman who felt blessed for the fact she had nothing, but that she had average health. Prior to Michelle leaving, I asked if I could pray for her and her sister. When she smiled and allowed me to, I froze. Typically, I wasn’t comfortable praying out loud, let alone in front of somebody else. However, when I started praying, the Lord took over me and gave me wisdom in my words through the Holy Spirit, and I had never felt closer to God in that moment.…

I followed this pattern in my own life, and really only had the faith of my parents. This changed…

What is your "faith story"? My personal faith story has led to my own salvation and this is why as a spiritual leader, I feel compelled to become a living sacrifice" (Rom 12:1-2 ESV). I was raised in a primarily Christian church, while discerning early in life that, being a Christian is more than a religious tradition, dogma, or practice. It takes a vast amount of guts to become a Christian, why because "faith" is a tangible (real) connection to God, that one cannot see.…
