My Speech: A Comparison Of A Speech

In general, I am pleased with both two speeches that I gave. Even though there are many defects, I still think that did better every time.
For the first speech, the topic is “What Makes Your Heart Sing?” To be honest, when I first heard this topic, I just wanted to quit. I know that this topic was asking me to talk about what made me happy. However, for me, the hardest thing is talking about myself. To give a good speech, I think the most important thing is to move people. However, I think my life so is commonplace that I cannot think of a story to make people moved. It spent me a whole week to consider what to present. Then I decided to talk about how I be a volunteer in China and help others, which I think will be best to rise the resonance with audiences. As I remember, in that day, before I went into the classroom for the

However, I do have many weaknesses. For example, I will easily apply some movements to my speech, such as touching my hair, wringing my hands, or shrinking my shoulders. Other than that, I always stop the speech because of my unfamiliar with the article, especially the problem of the pronunciation. Sometimes, because of the unfamiliar with the text, when I am trying to remember something, my eyes will look at the upper right direction, which I believe that will look uncomfortable.
These two presentations help me figure out many problems I have on speech. In order to give a better speech, I have to make some changes. To get more familiar with the text, I should write the speech as earlier as I can. Besides, in order to avoid those unfavorable gestures, I will practice in front of the mirror, and try to use more efficient gestures to help others understand my speech better. In general, I learn a lot from the class, even though I still need to improve, at least, I am proud enough to stand in front of others. I believe, I can do better in the following

One of these similarities are that they were both written to help Americans in some way, one was to declare independence and to break away from British rule and the other was to free African Americans from inequality. After reading Mike Bunn’s “How to Read Like a Writer,” I revisited my directed self-placement essay while asking myself the many questions Bunn recommends to ask oneself when “reading like a writer.” In doing so, I was able to recognize the strengths and weaknesses I possess as a writer, and therefore know where I need to grow the most as a writer. One of my greatest strengths as a writer is knowing my audience and composing my writing accordingly. I am aware that when my audience is a teacher who will be reading and grading plenty of the same essays to include original ideas and arguments; it gets boring reading the same type of paper and ideas over and over. Along with my well thought out ideas and arguments, I also credit myself with the ability of using appropriate evidence from credible sources that support my claims.…

One of thing things A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking talks about that I want to draw from going forward is forming a specific speech purpose. “Ask yourself: What do you want the audience to learn/do/reconsider/agree with?” (Page 50). This is an idea that I want to keep in mind a lot more before I start writing my speeches. By being able to pinpoint my intentions I believe I will be more effective in making audience laugh or making them consider a certain idea, etc.…

Areas that I feel like I have improved in during this communications 101 course is becoming more confident in speaking in front of a small crowd, learning how to write speeches, and learning how to research and prepare for speeches. Everyone 's fear is public speaking. I avoided taking this class for the longest time just because I did not want to have to take a class where its entirety was just about speaking in front of people and doing a handful of speeches being my primary grade. I needed to take this class for when I transfer over to Arizona State University in the fall of 2017 so getting this class out of the way now at the University of Nevada was more of an ideal plan rather than taking it at ASU. This class is a core pre-requisite…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Initially after giving the persuasive speech, I felt that there has been little process in all of this time that I had spent trying to learn to communicate more effectively. Worst of all perhaps, I felt powerless to do anything to change this. This was my most practiced speech and it did not feel that way. Even the thought of having to go back and essentially relive those 7 minutes was not something I was particularly excited about.…
