Hesitation In Police Officer

The dictionary meaning of Hesitation is “a delay due to uncertainty of mind or fear.” Hesitation and police officers are directly related. In this line of work hesitation could mean life or death. Some people are arguing about should the officers hesitate or should not hesitate. The police officers can save innocent life if he/she hesitate. On the other hand, the police officers may loses his/her own life. The police officers should hesitate on both situations. Situation can be good or bad. When I say good situation, the suspects or the criminals has not gun or calm; in this case the officers should hesitate before using force. This shows lack of hesitation that have made by police officers. Some police officers did not hesitate before taking excessive force on the suspected people. This potentially cost the suspected life and also it led people to the riot. At this time many people may lose their life and also riot potentially damage the city as we have seen in Baltimore. As Eliott C. McLaughlin states “Freddie Gray sustained injury in back of police van. He suffered severe spine injury and died one week after his arrest.” This led people to angry and debate. In this case the officers are the reason to passes Gray’s life. This derived from lack of enough hesitation and lack of taking care of suspects or carelessness. This was a great cause of distraction on Baltimore city. Many police cars were burned and also people were killed because of it. This is potentially damage many things as I mention the above. Lack of hesitation may drives from due to racism and carelessness. Some police officers have problematic view which means they think all black men and women have problem. This is over generalized all black people are the same. In my opinion the police officers should stop racial profiling! On the other hand some police officers are carless. This can cost both the police officers and the suspect’s life. The author states that “Four in a shot spam of the last forty days, the police officers in Karachi have lost their lives due to personal carelessness, Killed on May 1, May 9, May 15 and June 9, all three deputy superintendents police (DSPs) and one SP was killed in zone east of the Karachi police. Both the police investigators and police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo claimed to have identified the killers, they are unable to name the one. The officers had no proper security despites serious threats looming over their heads.” This implies how carelessness potentially cost the police officers
