My Son Monologue

“Hurry, get everything around, it’s time to go to the hospital!” my wife yelled. Her water had broken and we were about to have our first child. I was so excited that I grabbed the bag, started the car, and ran around the house trying to make sure that I wasn’t forgetting anything. While I was running around the house, I heard my wife yell, “I’m in the car, will you get in so that we can go.” I ran out, and we were off to the hospital. A long twenty or so hours later, our son, Owen Alexander, was born. The doctor said, “You have a healthy baby boy.” The day that my son Owen was born was one of the best days of my life. I never thought that I would have a feeling of excitement and unknowing like I had with my first son’s birth. Three …show more content…
We arrived at Riley and eventually found the office of the Dr. Bill Beechler. He didn’t tell us much except that he wanted to run some tests on our son and that we could sit and watch as the tests were administered. He explained that the tests were simple and that Colin would not even know that the tests were being conducted. Dr. Beechler also explained that he wanted us to watch so that he could ask us any questions he had while the testing was going on. The first few tests seemed normal to us because they had to do with Colin’s hearing and vision. After the first few tests, I started to realize that our family doctor did not give us a referral to this specialist because he thought our son had hearing problems. The tests seemed to go on forever, and Dr. Beechler kept asking us if our son’s reactions were the same as his reactions at home. The answer was almost always yes. The testing took half the day, and the words that we heard next would change our

It was about 3:45 in the morning on a Sunday, where I found myself and my excited, wide-awake, good-looking boyfriend driving down a dark, eerie road to a hospital that was 61 miles away. Those 61 miles felt like light years to me I didn’t feel right all day today, I had a feeling deep down that my body was telling me that it was time. I was as nervous as I possibly could be, however, I had to remain completely calm because I could possibly be in labor and our first baby could arrive any time. So There I was, just Sitting there in that fast moving car, patiently waiting for the top of my big-ole belly to become super tight, tighter than a rubber band wrapped around your stomach 1000 times.…

It’s been a day or two since we’ve left this room. I’m lost and enraptured by the fragility surrounding our isolation. I spend much of my time counting things. I count the slats on your window blinds, I count the clothes scattered on your bedroom floor, I count the scars on your body. I count every different language and color I could learn to love you in.…

Monologue I always love talking with young Malcolm, he is such a nice young man, I always want to listen to my students but sometimes Malcolm goes on and on about all these different inquiries, sometimes I wish he would just shut up!. As I am minding my own business just cutting the rose bush Malcolm is going on about how he thinks the new kid Sebastian is hiding something. I do think he is overthinking and worrying to much about Sebastian, I just wish he could just leave me alone and go care for something else so I can get back to my rose bush. I have things to do and places to be, I have to go wash the windows by the library at noon and then help prep tomorrows lunches, the last thing I need is Malcolm accusing Sebastian on some crazy assumption he is going to hold me up!.…

In the first exploration, we explored the opening monologue of the Narrator and the very first scene. This first scene is important as it can be linked to the idea of omnipresence and control of play. In this case, the control is over how social class affects the main characters. This can also relate to Greeks’ idea of Fates who decide the fate of humans for their own pleasure. The Narrator is always there and it is as if he is amused by the actions of Mickey and Edward.…

I knelt in front of the cross, water spraying off the rigid rocks. I twisted the backpack around my arm and reached for the slip of paper. I read aloud the words of my heart and placed the paper underneath the Lily I had picked from the meadow just outside of Baron. My son and I had never had the close father-son relationship I had hoped for; I had never bonded with him the way he had with his mother. I sat down against the boulder lodged between two rocks, and shut my eyes.…
