My Som Expo Experiment

My STEAM Expo experiment was testing which hamster food gives hamsters the most energy to hamsters. I tested three store brand foods: Carefresh Complete, Sunseed, and Nibble Rings. I also tested one that I made based off of the research that I did prior to the experiment. I thought that this project was perfect for my three hamsters, because they are all very tired and lazy. I also think that other people can use my type of food so that their hamsters can be energetic, too. I observed the results when I woke them up during the day. I decided to include three slices of apple, four baby carrots, half a banana, and a tablespoon of chia seeds, with six tablespoons of flour for baking it. For the chia seeds, I used a drink called Mamma Chia. After all, I think that a little sugar would work, too, and I know that they liked the strawberry banana flavor. According to Kimberly Snyder’s website, all of these foods can give you energy. According to Caring Pets, they are all edible and healthy. I believe that based off of all of my research, this one would be the most helpful with giving energy and vitality. I mixed all the ingredients and baked it for twenty-five minutes at three-hundred seventy-five degrees. They turned out well, nice and golden-brown on the top with a crispy consistency. Once they were cooled, I cut them into quarters so that the hamsters could properly eat them.
Over the next week, I observed some of the hamsters climbing and running on the wheel during the day, and that’s a good sign. They were definitely awake more than normal. The waste on the wheel was just a little bit less than there was when I tested Carefresh Complete. At the end of the week, I gave it an
