This in turn, has taught me alike Carrie the social worker in movie, the characteristics of empathy and patience with the population of homeless, disability, and mental health community. Through my learning process and observation from other social workers and case workers utilizing their individual clinical, counseling, and therapeutic interventions skills with clients served; therefore has motivated me in becoming a licensed case worker in the future. Furthermore, one of my personal strengths to my developmental as a professional social worker, is my eagerness to learn, desire to explore new skills in social work, and maintain a strong work ethnicity. For example, while attended my summer semester at Albany State University, I had another opportunity of establishing strong work patterns and developing skills of researching by working with two Assistant Professor of Sociology, (Dr. Gosdin and Mason) on campus. Likewise, after receiving acceptance letters from two graduate colleges in Social Work such as Howard and Rutgers Universities; I decided after encouragement from my five sisters (Alumni Graduates of Howard University), and aware of the rigorous graduate study ahead, I decided to research St. Joseph University professors and mission statement. After carefully reading the “School’s Mission Statement,” and attending “Open House Information Sessions,” I am confident my interest and long-term career goals will be met at the University of St. Joseph of Social Work. Furthermore, I believe it will prepare me to become a better writer and an advance learner at all levels. I am dedicated to grow and learn from knowledgeable and educated professors at St. Joseph such as Dr. Patrick Nickoletti (Mentor for Field Preparation), Dr. Raymie Wayne, (Encouraging students to further their profession with self-confidence) and Dr. Stanley Battle, (Impacting social work students to achieve their individual goals with the NASW Code of Ethic) h clients during their interview process as a case worker.
