Domestic Violence Sign Analysis

The purpose of my sign was to prevent domestic violence by providing an alternate way of stress relief instead of hitting women. My sign was intended for all the men who uses hitting women as a way to relieve their own stress. I constantly hear stories of women getting domestically abused because they were too angry or they couldn’t help it. These aren’t excuses. This shouldn’t be happening because there are many ways to prevent these situations from occurring. That is why I chose to put the quote, “HIT THE GYM, NOT WOMEN” on my sign. I also included a drawing of a punching bag. My sign was a way to show that hitting women isn’t the only option to relieve your stress. There are many other ways where you can relieve stress that isn’t violent. …show more content…
I learned that people don’t realize that many people are getting hurt behind closed doors and no one is there to help them. This made me realize that anyone around me could be getting hurt and I would have no clue that it is occurring around me. I hope I opened people’s minds to be aware of the situations that may occur dealing with domestic abuse. I like how I learned about how to prevent and get help from using resources. There are many organizations and websites that contain the advocation of domestic abuse and assistance for people who have dealt or are dealing with domestic abuse. I can refer to my resources when helping a friend or family member when they are put into a situation containing domestic abuse. It was a good feeling to see the amount of people who participated to help and spread awareness of domestic abuse. Although, it was hard to get up earlier in the morning, it was worth it because I had so much fun with all my friends while supporting a good cause. I was proud of myself when the whole activity was finished. I would love to do this again. The one thing I disliked about this activity was mainly the crowding when everyone was trying to find a spot. While the sign waving, there was a lot of body heat and no space between each sign, which made it difficult for everyone’s signs to be seen. I suggest to create a schedule where different periods are assigned to a certain day to come to school early to sign wave. This will prevent the crowdedness by the stoplight and extends more days to sign wave for

SALP: Domestic Abuse Program Evaluation Christopher M. Nima San Jose State University Social workers have long confronted the multiple issues that coexist within a household filled with domestic violence. The problems that can fester in a household filled with domestic violence range from child endangerment to alcohol abuse. Unfortunately, services for the victims of these types of family violence have been splintered, forcing single women or families to go to multiple agencies for support. This issue can become ever more complicated when the victims come from immigrant households who are less familiar with American culture, laws, and services available to them. The focus of the program evaluation is to propose human…

After reading "violence in intimate relationships: a feminist perspective" there are some harsh realities that some women do not want to face when they are or may be in a abusive relationship. Women face being labeled as a "battered woman" someone who has lost their morals or values to even stay with a male who is abusive towards them. I believe it is hard for women to leave a abusive relationship because they are scared especially if the abuse has been going on for years. I've seen a lot of movies based on women being abused by their significant other and from those movies i got that the woman has to at some point build this determination to leave that abusive relationship. Furthermore the woman has to feel like she has someone to turn to…

In Melissa Jeltsen’s article, “Cops get new Guidance on Responding to Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence,” she explains why new policies are being made for policemen to follow when investigating sexual assault crimes. New rules are being made in the police force that require more policies and training because many policemen are taking advantage of rape stereotypes. These new guidelines are making policemen investigate more thoroughly instead of just making assumptions. Many policemen were making bad judgement calls based off different rape stereotypes. Others were taking advantage of these stereotypes and were raping women.…

Chapter four of our text addresses physical violence. For this assignment, I have chosen an article related to a recent ongoing homicide investigation, and I will attempt to relate content from the chapter to this particular story. According to the news article, police from Milford, Deleware have acquired arrest warrants for two suspects that are believed to have been involved in the murder and home invasion of a forty year old man named John Harmon on August 8, 2015. This is an ongoing investigation, so the suspect's guilt cannot yet be determined with confidence. However, the murder of John Harmon is still related to content from chapter four that we have discussed this week.…

Domestic violence is an issue that is not closely scrutinized when it comes to the athletic community. The media produces double standards by representing the act of domestic violence among athletes differently based on the gender of the perpetrator or the person committing the crime. Although athletes are seen as positive role models they are highly criticized when involved in the act of violence towards their loved ones. However consequences differ according to the athlete’s performance and popularity and more importantly on their gender. I can do anything” (CBS) and they seem happy and satisfy about gender role. Although this is positive, on the other behalf of women, some are continuously domestic abused often by husband. For example, a couple years ago, when Rice Ray punched his fiancee in an elevator and he said, “I am supposed to lead my family, to lead my wife” (Rivers). This is crucial because in order for men to get a grip of their family, they can go as far as abusing their own wife . To solidify this argument statistic have shown “Up to 70 percent of women experience physical or sexual violence from men in their lifetime — the majority by husbands, intimate partners or someone they know” (BWSS)…

Speaking for Those too Young to Understand Child abuse is a national calamity that is appalling and often draws violent and emotional reactions. South Carolina has improved in child well-being the last several years, and statistics from Kids Count now indicate that we have risen from 45th to 42th in the nation for child well-being. While this is a step in the right direction, more can be done to save our innocent children from the atrocities of child abuse. Improvements can be made in how cases handled, through how many cases are responded to and the response time, and how information is permeated throughout the public, especially the amount of education given to children.…
