Not only did they steal the ball, but they scored three times back to back. I could tell our team was starting to get discouraged, because we were all tired. To make matters worse our three point shooter injured her knee. Everyone could see the fear written on our faces. We were worried that we would lose if she did not play. Then, our coach called a time out, and told us not to give up, because we were only down a few points. In my head I was thinking a few points or more like fifteen points. The second quarter ended, and we were down ten points at the half. We ran out once more to begin the third quarter, and to my surprise it seemed as if every shot we threw up went in, but eventually we got tired and shots stopped going in. Then, the worst happened all of our starters started to foul out. The other girls on the team were young, and most of them were not very experienced. Immediately, I dropped my head in disappointment, because I thought we were stuck. My coach then pulled the girls to the side to express to them that we needed them to continue the game. Eventually, the timeout was over and we were on our way back on to the court. There was one minute left to go and we were down five. I immediately drove the ball in for a layup and got fouled. That was a three point play, and God knows we needed that. There was now thirty seconds on the clock, and we had no timeouts left. Our hearts were pounding none stop as they shot the ball, but they missed. The ball was back in our possession, and it was now fifteen seconds on the clock. We pulled the ball out, so that we could run the time out to take the last shot. A Wayne County defender reached in to slap the ball, and ended up fouling. This was our chance to run our play that we practiced so much on. I screamed out the play and encouraged the girls to run it right. The referee handed Kiara the ball, and she slapped it letting us know to go. We broke out in different directions. Kiara passed the ball in to Quita, and then I set a screen for Kiara to come in to shoot the game winning three-pointer. Kiara shot the ball, and we all looked in fear towards the goal. Swish
