My Senior Project

Decent Essays
My senior project is about learning how to sew and taper jeans. The process has been challenging but a great experience. I have learned how to face roadblocks and overcome them. My mentor and I have had to communicate in Spanish only. It was challenging for me because I find explaining things in English is much simpler than Spanish. The way we would make sure we were able to understand each other and be on the same page was by explaining in depth.
For my senior project, I challenged myself to learn how to use the sewing machine and tailor jeans. I have never touched a sewing machine; it has been something that I’ve been interested for a long time. I have a big interest in fashion, Jerry Lorenzo was one of the first persons who got me interested

The area of my topic for my Capstone Project is the environment and the United States should stop the production of the North Dakota Access Pipeline. The pipeline is 1,172 miles long and it will transport 470,000 barrels of oil per day. The pipeline will begin in North Dakota, travel through South Dakota, and Iowa, and end in central Illinois. The pipeline will be placed through the Standing Rock Sioux land, which is in North Dakota, and the pipeline would affect their only water supply if the pipeline spills. I chose this area because the media doesn't show what is happening in North Dakota and I want people to be informed about what is going on in our country and stand with Standing Rock to end this battle.…

The idea behind my project is to show how the aphorisms were always running through Morrie's mind. I drew a silhouette of Morrie and filled it with aphorisms that stood out to me. I did this to show that Morrie, himself, came up with these aphorisms, and not someone else. Morrie used the aphorisms to teach and get a point across in a way that is easy to understand. My project is another tool to help get Morrie's many messages read.…

My Semester Project will consist of two musical pieces, one representing the journey that individuals with tuberculosis from Peru go through, and the other the journey that individuals with tuberculosis from the United States go through. The former will end in death, and the latter in a recovery. The different stages will be the initial stage pre-diagnosis, followed by being diagnosed with TB, then holding out hope that the TB will be cured, leading ultimately to the demise/recovery. These two different endings are meant to bring attention to the social injustice that exists among countries in relation to tuberculosis. There are many more fatal cases of tuberculosis in Peru than in the US due to the patients’ abilities to acquire the proper medication necessary to treat TB.…

I’ve been in school for about 11 years, every year is different, but yet the same. Because we are at the same school for years, it’s the same people, same school, and same everyday routine. Some years are better than others, but the overall best year that I’ve experienced is or was, 8th grade. The fun field trips to places, High School acceptance, and it’s the last year of middle school.…

Obstacles I also had to overcome were with the inner feelings I overcame from situations put in my life. Feelings that gave me lack of motivation and kept me from giving the attention this senior project deserved. Looking back on those situations, I wish they guided me to do better and use them as a motivation. All the time and energy that didn’t go into this project until last minute caused me re-evaluate me as a student and person. As a student I realized bad habits I’ve possessed for so long need to change for me to be successful in the upcoming future.…

I learned so many things in my project, i learned that even the smallest things can bri huge bennefits and i learned so many things abut myslef in the process, such as the fact that even though leading may not be my stroungsuit, i can step up and be there for others. I aquired skills in they way books re sorted, with the help of a local librarian, and I learned the importance of organization. One of the most memorable and feel-good moments about the entire project was one i remember clearly. Throughout my years of high school I have learned many invaluable leadership skills that I feel is important to impart on the future high school students. Therefore my senior project will have a focus on teaching elementary kids skills that they can develop throughout the next several years and become involved in middle and high school activities. I have worked with children for many years through different activities like organizing Art and Crafts events, mentoring in local elementary schools as well as teaching my Sunday school class several times. This project will allow me to further develop my work with children and I hope to leave the students I work with priceless skills that they will not soon part with.…

As an only child growing up in Clarence, Iowa, I at most times found myself playing alone in my backyard or sitting in front of my television, watching whatever we had on VCR. DVD players had already been out for years at that time, but with my father working as a mechanic in some random guy's garage, we could not afford to buy a DVD player. I had to resort to VHS tapes, but at least my mother would take me to the used game store(which also sold VHS tapes and DVDs)every once in a while. I became addicted to owning VHS tapes, even as a six year old boy and honestly, I still am to this day. My favorites were the movies from Tim Burton and the Disney films were my absolute favorites; I just could not get enough of Toy Story and The Lion King.…

    9th Grade Research Paper

Although every grade level deems difficult, I believe that 9th grade is the hardest grade because of the grueling effects of low self-esteem, pressure and worry that every student must bear among the already heavy load of their school frets during freshman year. To begin with, low self-esteem can truly deprive a student’s drive to excel in the future. I think this because occasionally, when a student is held back a grade during their first year, they can suffer from a sort of mental inhibition, and feel as if they are an outcast stranded in a see of anonymous strangers. Therefore, that student could feel as if they are unwelcome and decide that it’s better off if they just drop out instead of dealing with the uncertainty of a different crowd.…

As the senior project comes to an end, I am truly excited about the benefit my influence has had on the community. My senior project was just another step to the legacy that I have implemented in Warren County. Thinking back to freshman year, senior project seemed so boring and far away. I never would have imagined the progress and success I've had with my senior project. My interest has stayed the same but I wouldn't think that I would have County Commissioners and a House of Representative present at my event.…

The fall of my Sophomore year, I read a newspaper article detailing a Model United Nations conference that took place three hours away from my home town. It seemed to be right up my alley as it involved researching global issues and working together to solve them. After doing some more research on the basics of the program, I was convinced that I had to do whatever it would take to make it to that conference the following year. Unfortunately, my high school was one of only two schools in my county that didn’t attend. After talking to some of my classmates, I discovered that there was a definite interest in making a Model UN club at my school.…

The group that I was assigned to was group A which was the marketing team. My role in the group was to get everyone to come out and register for the diversity and leadership conference.
