My Semester Grade Average

Improved Essays
I am writing to you in hopes that i can persuade you to give me an extra 10 points on my semester grade average.I strongly believe that i deserve this.My first reason is because i try my hardest on all the classwork, and if we are assigned homework,i make sure i atleast try to do it even if i do not fully understand. That is my job in class,to try my hardest and practice the work.

The second reason why i feel i deserve the extra 10 points, is because i am always in class on time and i respect the teacher.I am claiming this because some students do not respect their teacher in class and do not listen to instructions.Am i asking for too much?Do i not deserve the extra points? Not doing your classwork or homework is like to commit a crime and lie

    1. Grading systems are a blaring issue in numerous schools throughout the country. In this case, a teacher at Littleton High School proposes a solution to a previous problem imposed onto the math department. The issue involved students challenging their determined grade in hopes of a higher grade. Jane Vincent begins to support a stricter grading system where the teachers would round up a student’s grade if they earned a .5 or higher, or round the grade down if they obtained lower than a .5.…

In the article, “Student Expectations Seen as Causing Grade Disputes,” studies outline a troubling trend in the minds of America’s youth: Students deserve high marks just for fulfilling rudimentary requests. While this concept seems to be present in most teens’ minds, many others hold a different view. In the Patrick Henry AP English Language and Composition Syllabus, this idea is explicated with clarity: “The grade of A is a performance grade, not an effort grade.” In this class, neither attending live seminars nor relying on prior knowledge is enough to obtain an extraordinary score.…

Ms. McCready includes information which matches her argument throughout the entire article. “But no matter how much we want it to, money can’t buy smarts, motivation or school success,” states McCready. As the author speaks to parents of students in today’s generation, she informs the audience of examples and ways to praise a child who earns good grades.…

As I began the second advisory, I started off very strong and ahead of the game. I was doing all my work and completing what I needed to receive a good grade. This was a result of me trying to keep up with my goals for the upcoming advisory too. I had left on with a B- last advisory and now that has dropped significantly. I am completely disappointed with my grade because these are not the grades I receive on a regular basis in school.…

According to the Washington Post, data has proven that there is a direct correlation between high school grade point average and the average annual adulthood earnings. According to Michael T. French, he director of the health economics research groups at the University of Miami, said “A one-unit increase in your GPA has a very sizable impact on your education and earnings.” It is for that reason that we must affirm today’s resolution to mandate a national minimum grade point average. The first point I would like to bring up today is that a national minimum grade point average would encourage students to lean more and earn a better living later in life. For every one point increase in high school grade point average earnings in adulthood increase twelve percent for men and fourteen percent for women.…

If you asked me two years ago if I thought homework posed as a benefit I would say absolutely not. After graduating elementary school almost four years ago and starting to get real homework, I would disagree. Although it's not my favorite hobby, it remains very valuable in my life and will continue as a part of my life for quite a while. I believe homework exceeds in benefits and can help you on tests, help you learn to manage time and assume more self discipline and can even influence others. To begin, homework grants awards because it helps you on tests.…
