My Self-Assessment
The purpose of taking the DiSC personality test and the Emotional Intelligence test was to understand how I currently interact and work with colleagues, how colleagues and others communicate with me, and how I could improve my interactions. The DiSC test is based on the DISC (Dominance, Inducement, Submission, and Compliance) Theory is a four attribute behavioral model to examine the behavior of individuals within a specific environment. (Jang, 2008) According to Phycology Today is the capacity to reason about emotions and emotional information, and of emotions to enhance thought.” (Mayer, 2009) These assessments should allow for an internal view of my interactions, how people interact with me and find what I can improve.

According to maetrix, a score of four is recognition, as it suggests, I recognize my choices regarding behaviors. A level six is exaggeration, which is exaggerated behaviors and an aggressiveness in responses. A level two is wisdom, which is an awareness of emotions and distractions and keeping them under control (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004).
Self-Awareness. Self-Awareness is an individual’s ability to read and understand their emotions, recognize their impact on work performance and relationships, the ability to give a realistic evaluation of strengths and limitations and have a positive and strong sense of self-worth (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004). Since I am currently a level four, which is beginning to focus attention inward and beginning to realize choices for my behaviors, I have room for improvement. I can improve my self-awareness by understanding and find patterns in my frustrations and emotions, and discover how to manage

Social- Awareness which is understanding others and taking an active interest in their concerns; ability to, build decision networks and navigate politics, and recognizing and meeting the needs of others (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004). Again, I scored a six, which does not really surprise me since other people usually bother me. You will often hear me say, “I hate stupid people.” or “I don’t like people that much.” So, since I already know this about myself finding areas to improve will no doughtily increase my social awareness.
Relationship Management. Relationship Management is inspiring and guiding groups and individuals, to strengthen and support the other’s abilities, use positive strategies, initiating new ideas, use effective conflict management, building and maintaining relationships, and effectively use teamwork and collaboration (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004). I scored a two in relationship management, which genuinely surprises me since my social-awareness was at level six. I believe that my relationship management will improve as I work to improve social-awareness.
Overall, I have a lot of work to do to become competent in emotional intelligence. Although, I do believe that there is some conflicts in the assessment and I research and become more familiar with emotional intelligence I will bring my perceived conflicts more in line with each area previously

Emotional intelligence is the ability to manage emotions in such a way that promotes positive outcomes in one’s life. Emotional intelligence also refers to a specific set of cognitive abilities associated with emotions. Intelligence is defined by Wechsler as “the aggregate or global capacity to of the individual to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his or her environment.” (pg. 2). Based off of Wechsler’s definition of intelligence, I do consider emotional intelligence (EI) to be a true form of intelligence, because accurately managing one’s emotions is vital towards acting purposefully, thinking rationally, and dealing with his/her environment.…

Emotional Intelligence is defined as “the ability to identify, use, understand and manage your emotions in positive and constructive way.” (Lewis, 2012). And is broken down into four key components. These components are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management, all playing separate but equal roles in what makes someone emotionally intelligent. For example, self-awareness is someone being aware of their own emotions in a given situation, while self-management in the control of emotions while being socially aware.…

Leaders are appointed in countries and states to govern and manage the well being of the citizens. The ruling party, who primarily authorizes laws and bills, retains power. The dynamics of the political sphere is largely dependent on the power structure and form of government in the state. Authoritarianism occurs when citizens conform to extreme obedience and submission to their leaders (Altemeyer, 2006), coined as Right Wing Authoritarian (RWA) followers. North Korea, governed by the Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, is a famous example.…

The Formula for Credibility is something that I find very interesting. Our text states that it a great leader cannot perform his duties without the trust of his inferiors. The belief that a reputation cannot be built upon lies and deceit; a credible reputation is the best formula for success. There are three key components that are fundamental in the Formula for Credibility: competence, caring and character. While some may believe that competency is the only key component, I disagree.…

I decided to read The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin and found it to be overall pleasing. In this book, Rubin records her yearlong pursuit to figure out what phases one can take to raise happiness. Rubin 's journey is very personal, thoroughly researched, fun, easy-to-read yet full of challenges. I found it interesting to see Rubin 's process. It was also nice to see the whole process and Rubin shows and explains the amount of energy she put into this project by constantly documenting and trying to further her knowledge on different topics.…

The categories included self-awareness, self-management, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills (McGraw-Hill, n.d.). In lecture notes from current course material, emotional intelligence is described as” components of social intelligence and adds self-awareness and self-regulation of emotions” (GCU, 2015). Based upon my responses I received a score of 90 and that I exercise most EQ behaviors, but can make improvements in these competencies by utilizing effective strategies to improve my emotional intelligence.…

My somewhat medium score for the control has me acknowledge this assessment even more as it is fascinating to know my inner self more to try to lead others in the way they deserve. Although, I realize that as an introvert side of me, I'm very reluctant to share this information that I feel is very personal and private, but at the same time I also gain new insights into others when they share theirs. It supports me to understand and learn that I'm not far-out, merely different from others, which is not necessarily detrimental in any way. Further, this assessment has certainly added value to reflect on myself and apprehend the differences of others, while giving me another perspective into my own personality to keep in mind that many times we don't give a chance to identify with ourselves, let alone others.…
