On my second trip to Nicaragua one of the girls on the trip developed a reaction on her ankle. As the trip leader, I was responsible for the safety of all the students. At first it was nothing more then a little red patch and our hosts said we would need to wait till morning to get it looked at. By morning her ankle was completely swollen and the red patch had traveled up her leg. The host and myself took her to the clinic in the village. Speaking very broken Spanish it was very hard for me to fully understand what was going on. This was the first time I felt very stressed and overwhelmed.
