The Story of My Search My whole life, I have been compared to the story of Noah and the ark in the Bible, but I never quite understood the meaning behind the name itself. I knew that my first name, Noah, was of Biblical origin, and that my middle name, Daniel, could have been too, but I had no idea where my last name, Swan, could have come from. From going to a Baptist church my whole life I knew the story of Noah and the ark, and knew some about Daniel in the Bible as well, but I was never told anything about my last name from my family, and I never researched it either. Going into this project, I simply wanted to find out the origin and meaning behind my names, but as I started researching, I began to see how they represent me as an individual through their meanings. The first place that I looked for information about my name was the Behind the Name website. Next, I searched the HowManyofMe.com website. Much like my first name, it is also of Biblical, Hebrew origin meaning “God is my judge” (Behind the Name). I was named this partly because of the meaning, and also because my dad’s middle name is also Daniel, and they wanted to name me after him (Swan, Eric and Angela). This name is ranked number twelve in the US as of 2015, so it is also quite popular (Behind the Name). The name Daniel is most popular in the state of Georgia, and also tends to be more common in the Eastern states (Behind the Name). Since this name is so common, there are hundreds of famous people with the name; most of which, are famous because of their creations, not because people know about them. The most common derivative of the name Daniel is Dan (Behind the Name).
