I was still adjusting to having six different classes; each class with their own amount of homework. I would stay up late to do homework and procrastinate on most of my assignments. I would keep up this kind of “lifestyle” until it got to the end of second semester and then I felt that I should changed my way of school life. “Aw dang, I got a B? My grades are going down the drain againn” I blurted out loud, while checking the Aeries app on my phone. My mom was like “ Are you serious?” “ What… R-really?” My mom had uttered in a shocking tone with her eyes wide opened and her jaws dropping down. She studied my face for any hint of sarcasm but couldn’t find anything. “Yes, really,” I replied, pointing to the homework that I had finished. “Oh honey, I’m so proud of you,” my mom had squealed,”My baby girl is finally growing up!” She went over to give me a tight bear hug and I felt accomplished as if I had done something great even though I had just only done my homework. I made my mom proud of me and that’s was what made me feel accomplished. And from then on, I felt as if a miracle had happened. My grades went up from a low B to an A in most of my classes. My grades skyrocketed up the sky. I, now finished my assignments the day I got them. I also study beforehand, for tests and quizzes. It was not like one day, I suddenly decided to change. I got the help from my friends and family to change my way of doing things at school. I learned that I can get good grades if I put my mind into doing it and not get distracted. Mostly, I learned that I can get all the things that I need to be done on time if I don’t

Moving from Albuquerque, New Mexico was the first impactful event of my life. When I was seven years old and almost a half, my parents told me that my family of six was going to pack up everything, leave our home, our livelihood, and move to Idaho. At this time, I was young, but I knew I was going to miss Albuquerque. As well as those birds, I was going to miss my little Crocodile Smile green room.…

Junior year, I was determined to obtain a higher GPA and a better class ranking, and as a result I would skip out on family events when I had homework to do…
