I at that point have never been out of Texas and I am not going to lie kind of scared at the same time. The 18 hour ride was awful to start with because I became very inpatient to the point where I could be in the car any longer. But when we first entered Florida my dreams came to life I was able to see the environment and setting I have always wanted. The beach to me ever since I was little was my safe place.I understood the nature and everything around me.I was so fascinated about seashells, sand, and the aqua blue waters. It

One of the most beautiful places that I have ever lived is Santa Maria California We lived about 15 minutes from the pacific ocean and found ourselves frequenting its rugged landscape and chilly water. my favorite beach is Pismo beach. There was a lovely park nearby and plenty of open space to play with pets and enjoy a picnic lunch with family. We routinely spent time at Pismo Beach, searching for sand glass running in the waves and breathing the invigorating air. I was constantly in awe of Gods magnificent creation!…

The Dominican. It can be a sunny, cool and relaxing place. That’s usually 50% of the time, and the other 50 is a full downpour that can last there for about a month or two. As Some of you might know I sometimes have a yearly trip to the Dominican to build houses for the poor. This all happens with a group of 20-25 people from spruce land millworks, the company my mom works for.…

Often times we talk to individuals about their favorite vacation spot or where the place they feel the most at rest is; the response we get most often is the ocean. This is because the ocean is restorative. The quiet roar of the waves, the sound of seagulls chirping, the salty breeze, the ocean is a place of peace. For many the sea is not just a vacation destination, but the sea is a friend. Something that is consistent, and always listening.…

The second World War was one of the most significant events during the twentieth century, did you know that? The war “brought about major leaps in technology and laid the groundwork that permitted post-war social changes including the end of European colonialism, the civil rights movement in the United States, and the modern women’s rights movement, as well as the programs for exploring outer space,” (World War II 1). During the second world war, times were also tough, food was abundant, jobs were rare, family was the only thing a person had in those days. Days during World War II were days that a person did not want to go through alone. As a child things were easier, a child would play games of war and think it was fun but war was not fun, it was something to be scared about and scared of.…

A “safe place” is hard to define. To some people it may consist of their home, a relative’s home, or maybe a favorite place to visit and recall childhood memories. For others, it may involve a vacation spot. Somewhere away from home where they can relax and not have to deal with responsibilities of their home life for a while. To Ashley, there had always been one place that had never failed to comfort her.…

Safe Spot Again, I'm sitting in the same Chinese Restaurant for the third time this week, supposedly the first ranking Chinese restaurant in my city. If I could take a vacation anywhere it would probably be to the Bahamas, i've never been to far out of Indiana but going somewhere warm sounds amazing. I'd love to wake up to the sound and smell of the ocean, take a shower then go on a walk on the beach before breakfast. I would want to go out to eat at a new place every day just to get use to the type of food they eat everyday. I would stay up late and get up early for the first few days and spend long days at the beach, eating ice cream and just enjoying myself. Depending on how long we stayed I might sleep in a couple of days and go play basketball with some of the locals.…

I don?t really understand myself as a person. I tend not to focus on myself due to my insecurity which makes writing this essay a bit hard to write let alone understand what I need to write. Let me start off by saying that I never really did fit into a certain group of people until around the 8th grade. I never really interacted with people. I always thought that was the norm since no one really talked to me.…

When we got there, I was immediately in love with the beach. Time seemed to stop, and all I could take in was the cold of the water around my ankles, and the exciting fact that I was actually there. It was so beautiful, and I don’t think I've ever seen something so BIG! The way the waves jumped and leaped over each other was amazing. We all ran to the shore and I slowly dipped my toe into the water, smiled at my mom, and leaped into the the blue waves.…

The idea of a “safe place” first took off along with the feminist movement of the 1960s, providing a place for like minded individuals to gather; however, the 21st century saw a resurfacing of the same idea, applied this time as an ideological safe haven sheltering university students from exposure to sensitive topics. Articles published regarding this new notion of a “safe place” cites violations against the fundamental principle of universities in preparing its students to enter the adult world. In a speech by Van Jones published in a Huffington Post article, he states, “Put on some boots, and learn how to deal with adversity. I’m not going to take the weights out of the gym. That’s the whole point of the gym”, he continues by saying colleges…
