My Role In My Family Essay

When asked what my role in my family is, the first thing that comes to mind is that I am the glue that holds my family together. I have been there for each and every one of my family members despite any bad situations that may have come between us. Despite my parents being separated, I have maintained a strong relationship with my mother and my brother. And although my father and I are not close, he has held a major role in shaping me into the person I am today. Throughout my time with my family, I have learned a lot about myself and my values and my personal traits, and without my family, I wouldn’t have been able to do that. During my childhood I had to witness my father binge drinking, being extremely physically and verbally abusive to my family. Watching him evolve from his conventional paths and noticing how selfless he has become has motivated me to take the shirt off my back for anybody that is in need. Now that I am more mature than before, we have some really good conversations ranging from the manly talk, all the way to critical life stories that can sometimes make a huge impact on my dad’s and my outlook on life. Walking hand in hand with him to overcome our issues has transformed me into a humble man, as well as it transformed our relationship.
