My role in my local community
I am originally from a different community. I am originally from Mali in West
Africa I lived there until my age of sixteen and I when to Senegal for two years, and I am living here in United States for two years now where I am a student-athlete that plays basketball. I have had many different roles in all those places that I have lived.
My roles have also continued to change the older I have gotten.
Starting with my country Mali, when I was there I did not had many roles in my community because one I did not know really what could I do. There was not much I could do because I was young and back there young men do not have a big voice, but last summer when I when back home I felt like …show more content…
I believe the best way for me to help make these changes is to get involved with politics and and some political parties. The right to vote is a big deal in my community back home and my community here. Last years election was constantly talked about in our community. Everyone should try and vote because it is their right according to the constitution and not everyone is lucky enough to have that right (U.S. Const, Amendment XV).

While I was there I did not do much because I was one of the kids in the program getting help, but I learned a lot from there. It helped me learn which role I could have in future because the way I was helped. I am going to do some of the same things people did to help me to help other people who need it. I want to help
kids in Senegal and Mali as well. While doing that I can even work with the government because it is a program that helps fight against …show more content…
We are using that platform to do a lot different things for example community services, going to visit hospitals,, and visiting elementary schools.
Because those people in hospital are always happy to see us and so are the kids. Also when the attack happen on the strip we did a lot of community service too helping people showing the support and letting them know that we all are in this together no matter what. I have noticed there is a lot of negativity in America right now especially with issues about race. Race divides people more than any other characteristic according to the article “What underlies Urban Politics”. My role in
Las Vegas has been to set a good example to kids regardless of race or any other thing used to divide people.. I want to be someone kids can look up to in the community. In conclusion, I have a different role in my community because of my athletic platform help people, give them advice, show them good example and being role modal for kids. In the future I am going to have a much bigger impact. I have learned from others what kind of difference I can make. I take that
