It is a challenging task to try to balance and carry out the responsibilities that I have as the oldest child, a daughter, a sister, and a student; sometimes I forget that I also have responsibilities towards myself. Being the oldest isn’t easy as it seems to be, it takes a lot of patience to take on the role as a second mother especially when I’m taking care of seven siblings. I always felt like more mature than some people my age in my mind it felt like I was a 20-year-old person. The first time I had to step into the shoes of the older sister was at the age of seven. My youngest sister (then) was two years old, she had a lump in her throat so she had to get the surgery done. My mom had to stay in the hospital with her for like about a week and at the time my dad had lost his job so he couldn’t pay the bills and rent so we got evicted from our house, my siblings and I (it was four of us at the time) had to stay with a family friend until my dad found a job. My dad was staying at the local Mosque and as I mentioned before my mom was staying at the hospital with my sister. While staying with this family friend I was somewhat responsible for my siblings in many ways; making sure they alright, comforting them when they started missing our parents.
