Personal Narrative: My Role As A Member In The Graham Family

Improved Essays
My role as a member in the Graham family is very challenging yet very unique and respectful. Since the day I was born my mom, dad, and all my family members have been training me to be the man they expect me to be in the world. They expect me to grow up and accomplish something in life and hopefully one day look back on it and have no regrets on any choices I made. In my family I am a young leader, I am the next man on the family tree to show others how to be respectful, happy, and live life to the fullest. I am the teacher for the next generation of children to pass on family stories and help them understand the importance of them.

My role in the family is to learn and do the task a man is supposed to be responsible for in life. I have been

My moms ' side of the family grew up in a bad situation and in poor conditions. I am very lucky to say that my mom is the best out of them all, she has a highly paid job, deals with money wisely, and is always happy. Since some of them have went down the wrong path in life it effects me because I can 't see all of them because my parents do not want me to go down the same road and do the same things they did. My dads ' side of the family however grew up in the church and are strong Christians, I am always around them and learn many life lessons more often then not. My family still has family reunions that we attend every time that one occurs, everybody talks and catches up on each others life, so we all have learned to be very talkative people. I have a twin sister that is very bossy but is very smart and will help you with anything. She is the brains of the two of us, but I am the more active one so we work well when it comes to helping each other out. Growing up we both wanted to make our parents proud which made both of us very competitive in and out of school. However that also made us constantly mad at each other, which also helped us with controlling our anger. Although very stressful she taught me how to be on task of things and get it done without …show more content…
Most of the time I hear funny and hysterical stories just because my family is full of jokes and laughter which is one of the many things I love about all the stories I have heard. There are times that I do however hear about my past relatives or stories that happened before I was even born, because my family feels I should know and pass on the stories to the next generation of children whether good or bad. They are always wanting me to hear the full true story so that I may learn from them and be more prepared if I come across the same situation some day. My family has told me many valuable stories to learn upon and I consider myself lucky to have a family like mine who care so much for me and help me be the best man I can possibly be. I think that most of the stories I hear in my life are to protect me from doing the wrong such as not doing drugs and going to jail like my moms uncle has had trouble doing in the past. I think that I also don 't hear many stories about my family so that I do not hear some of the wrong that my family has been in, either before or during the years of my life. The stories of my family effect my place in the family tree, because my family expects me not to follow the same path some of my family members have went down. The stories that my family has made not only effects how I have to act, but also follows me around. People may look at me different

There are many stories told in my family. Anyone and everyone told them, some nights it would be my mom and other nights it would be my grandpa. There would always be two stories read; the first one would be from a book called “My Book of Bible Stories”. This book has so many pictures asks questions has descriptive words and is still one of my favorite books. After that story whoever was telling the story would make up a silly story usually about a blue or green man with a giraffe that went traveling and exploring (I have no clue why).…

Spending this time with the McCalls was instrumental for me as a therapist professional, working heavily with this population for a mere 8 hours in their 24 hour world. What I do know is that families with children who have disabilities have the odds stacked against them, often resulting in negative situations. Misunderstanding and conflict can certainly come about in a marriage, between a husband and wife. Siblings may often resent the immense attention given to a child with special. Grandparents may not understand modern day diagnoses, often the source of harsh criticism for parents.…

One of the biggest factors that has influenced my academic success was the opportunity to attend a local private school, Oakhill Day School, from the time I was two years old until I graduated 8th grade. At Oakhill, there were never more than 15 students in my class, which allowed me to create lifelong friendships with my classmates and my teachers. This was an environment where the students greatly respected the teachers, and vice versa. My classmates and I always pushed each other to work hard and that really helped me to achieve my academic goals. The teachers were always more than willing to answer any questions that I had to help me learn the material better and I was also able to work with my teachers one-on-one when I needed it or advance at my own pace.…

As my high school career is coming to an end, I find myself wanting something more than just a high school diploma. Growing up in a small ranching town my parents have always taught me to want something more than just a job at McDonald's flipping burgers. Growing up with an older brother and a younger sister has definitely made life more interesting; my older brother has been more of a role model for me just by learning how to do stuff with cars and more mechanic type things. My sister is the one I have more of the struggle with, it seems when she needs my help she’s really nice to me, but the other half of the time she’s just a turd. Which makes me cautious when she’s around because I don’t know if I’m going to get yelled at or asked if…

Family of Origin Introduction Families are a social system that is governed by rules and power structures, in which members become emotionally connected and interdependent (Collins, Jordan, & Coleman, 2012). Families tend to be the responsible agent in shaping the environment where individuals grow and develop. Each member in the family is different, and each contributes to the functionality of the family in a distinctive way. To be able to understand an individual’s behavior within a family, the family context and environment must be understood (Collins, Jordan, & Coleman, 2012).…
