As you stated, personal experiences and training may create a different Christian counseling philosophy from one in a pastoral role, in which I have found to be true, due to your position today as a counselor. In knowing your background in counseling, I can understand why you stated, the need for more treatment provisions through Christian counseling, due to studies showing that churches are not meeting the needs requested by Americans today. Unfortunately, I have found it to be true that churches (the one I am a member of) are demonstrating a somewhat, lack of concern. I was a brand new graduate who had landed my first career position quickly, but was I really ready for what was in store? My client tearfully informed me that her two year niece that she was caring for had begun to smear feces around the home and my client was at her breaking point. The look in her eyes was one that I will always remember as she looked to me for answers that were just not there. I spent months working with this family as their case manager: setting up services, connecting resources, and making home visits to provide support to the family.…

Hope-Focused Approach In choosing an approach, I took some time seriously considering the behavioral, strategic, and structural approaches that were used in formulating the HFA. My reasoning was that choosing HFA might seem to be too easy, since the course focused on this approach within both our textbook reading and discussion board writing. After researching each of these approaches and spending several days struggling to write a draft on the behavioral approach, I realized the HFA is the approach I should choose for this paper. As a believer in Christ, my faith dictates the manner in which I approach every aspect of my life including counseling.…

Increase doctrinal leverage for impending work within the lay-helping ministry. For many years, a churchgoer has depended solely on the pastoral staff to help satisfy the spiritual needs within the church. Today, it has become apparent that there is a vast need within the lay-helping missions.
