My Learning Philosophy Statement

Learning Philosophy Statement Learning new things is something that happens in the life of individuals every day. Learning is a crucial part of life that everyone must do to grow and develop as a person. Each individual also has their own learning style. For some, learning might be natural to them and just sitting in a class can be enough for them to learn the material. For others like me, learning does not come as easily as that. In order for me to truly understand a subject, I must utilize certain study habits and repeat these strategies in order for me to learn and truly become successful in a class. A way I can truly help myself stay focused and study is to utilize the library. Earlier in the semester, I did not like the library and preferred to study in my dorm only. In module two, we learned a lot about the New Literacies studies and the research put into each text that we have read. When I read it at first, the texts were hard to grasp and I had a difficult time understanding all the intense wording. Through the rhetorical reading notes, I learned to read with a purpose and to pick out the main idea, which also helped me with my summary. The last question on our rhetorical reading notes asks us to pick a word from each page that relates to the page’s main idea. I think that question helps me the most on rhetorical reading notes because it made me go page by page and recognize what the main point of each page was. Through that I better understood the whole text. That also correlated to my learning habit of being a visual learner. Visually seeing the word and then understanding the point of it instead of just reading it helped me. This question also helped me with repetition of the information which allowed me to remember the text
