My Responsibility To America

My Responsibility to America When the pilgrims endured their first winter at Plymouth, they did not have to stay with the high risk of death. It would have been far more beneficial to them to go back to Europe and deal with the religious rules, but they knew that it would help future generations even more if they stayed to start a country. This is the mindset we need to adopt, today. In America, today, you will rarely find a person who cares more about the country America is becoming than the America that makes and enforces the laws he has to live by. Sure, this country is not doing as well as many people from the late twentieth century would have expected it to be at this point, but complaining and waiting for change to occur will never solve …show more content…
In that case, Americans are totally irresponsible. Responsibility is not hard to define. Parents constantly tell their children—or they should—that they are irresponsible because they lack ambition, motivation to do anything significant with their time, and refuse to take action when they know they should. The definition changes very little, if any, with age or situation. Responsibility still is the state of ambitious, motivated behaviour to take action against a negative force or to help the well-being of others. In short, I think my responsibility to America is simply to lead the country, today, to become a better country, tomorrow. If all United States citizens would become more responsible and adopt the mindset that the Pilgrims had, this nation would be at a completely different …show more content…

Although I do believe it would be in everyone’s best interest, I do not intend to convert every reader or listener to Christianity, I simply want to inform the public that my God, the one and only true God has the power to change lives and even entire countries with the help of obedient believers on His side. Many people may disagree with Christian views, but many people also forget that America was created as a country under God. One of our great presidents, Ronald Reagan, was a devout believer in Jesus Christ. “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” Clearly, during the Reagan presidency, the people of America agreed with his views, and we, as a country, were headed in the right direction for the future. He believed that without God, the country we all call home would suffer. It is my responsibility to America to keep the Christian worldview in the effort to improve our

The era of the government playing a major role in Americans daily lives continued for the presidencies following FDR until Reagan. The general idea of Reagan's principles is summarized in this quote, “... From time to time we’ve been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together—in and out of government—must bear the burden.” In conclusion, Reagan…

And then, in an all-encompassing, evocative quote, he states, “Yes, across Europe, this wall will fall, for it cannot withstand faith; it cannot withstand truth. The wall cannot withstand freedom.” Although one might believe that this would have been the ideal moment to end the speech, Reagan chooses instead to address the demonstrations against his coming and brings his argument to a close by saying, “And I would like to say just one thing, and to those who demonstrate so. I wonder if they have ever asked themselves that if they should have the kind of government they apparently seek, no one would ever be able to do what they’re doing again.” This leaves an open ending that is sure to provoke his audience to contemplation and allows for the speech to…

As Americans, I believe, we need to participate in all aspects of life, respect ideals and people, and obey all established laws. As Americans, one of our responsibilities to America is participation. Participation may include lots of things such as your community, politics, and even your school. Participating in your community might be as little as helping someone across the street, or as big as setting up a local event.…

As time passed, others found that the myths that were created as the nation emerged, did not include them. By establishing myths such as the Chosen Nation, Nature 's Nation, and Christian Nation, among others, America’s founders contradicted what the journey to America was all about: freedom.
