“My Responsibility to America”
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” On July 4, 1776 we declared independence from Great Britain and became this magnificent nation that we are blessed to call home. The fact that we can, with pride, call ourselves Americans is all thanks to the founding fathers and the blood, sweat, and tears of the colonists fighting against British domination. These brave men and women made it their duty, their responsibility to ensure that not only they would be free from the tyrannical oppressiveness imposed on them from Britain, but that all future Americans would be free from all forms of tyranny and oppression from any and all countries.

They are earned. One can look around at many countries of this world such as China, Burma, Libya, and North Korea where basic human rights are violated every day. This is what we fight for, this is what we protect. This world is often not peaceful, it is often not safe. If it finds something that is good, that is light, it will often try to destroy it. It is my responsibility to be the light, I will serve, I will protect those who cannot protect themselves. It is my calling, my duty. Through this I will make a difference not only for the United States, but also for our allies and the oppressed countries and people that we extend our protection to. When I recite the pledge every morning, I am reminded of my responsibility. I will fulfill this duty, I will serve my country for the generations past and for the generations to
