My Research Process Analysis

Throughout the semester my research process changed in ways that benefitted my paper as well as helped me organize my thoughts in an orderly manner. My research skills have changed because previously when I had to find information my first thought would be to go on Google and search my topic. I now realize that if I want to find scholarly information that is peer edited the best places to check are online databases. Also, by using online databases I was able to approach academic research in a more efficient and effective way. I was not wasting my time looking into information that might or might not be accurate. Instead, I was able to spend my time sorting through a vast majority of articles relating to my topic. The quality of my writing has …show more content…
At the beginning, I picked forensic science as my topic because I found it interesting and wanted to learn more about it. I think that I had a unique way of looking at the integration of DNA profiling and fingerprinting because I am a forensic science major and had background knowledge on the topic. As I sorted through the information I found, I searched for information that connected to my topic as well as was a different way to look at something that may seem simple. I was able to refine my topic into an in-depth claim that I used as the focal point of my paper. My research paper is the piece of work that I feel is strong because it is organized and structured in a way that transitions one idea to the next in a continuous manner. I have used many examples to make sure my claim has enough support as well as detailed paragraphs containing my analysis on my topic. Instead of having a counterargument paragraph right before the conclusion, I put the counterargument in the middle of my body paragraphs so that I was able to write a couple paragraphs after the counterargument paragraph arguing against it. By having a strong research paper I was able to complete the unit 4 project with ease because I had my claim and sub-claims organized and ready to

Even though it does not feel as though I have improved much, I know that the grades on my essays say differently. After looking over my essays, I noticed that I have become better with using evidence to support my papers. This, to me, is my best accomplishment. I have also improved on my word choice, organization, and how I use my quotes. If you were to compare the first paper I wrote to the last paper I wrote, I feel as though it would be obvious on how much my organization has improved.…

On the first day of class, I felt pretty confident about my level of skills as a writer, but little did I know there were a lot of aspects in my writing that could be improved. As time progressed and we learned more about colloquial language and little things I could change in my essays to further advance and improve my writing. Now, I feel even more confident about my writing and know that all of these little changes I can make in my writing create a better flow of ideas and a higher level of formality. I feel that throughout this semester I have been greatly challenged as a writer and have advanced the most that I ever have in writing within such a short period of time. I have put in a lot time and effort into this class in order to create…

My writing has changed; it is easier to write a couple pages and the not be so afraid of writing papers. This is because of the amount I’ve been writing for the class, and how comfortable I was to be able to speak my mind to you. These two pages didn’t faze me. I’ve started not caring so much about what others think about my papers and caring more about how I feel about my papers, as long as I feel like I’ve done a decent job with my paper I feel accomplished enough to turn them in and hope for the best.…

When entering college and finishing my first essay, I realized my process wasn’t good enough in order to write a good essay. When doing my first narrative and comparing my narrative to the article “Thirty-eight who saw murder,” my process was reading thoroughly over the article and writing a reading report of the reading which it was included in the beginning of my introduction as seen in the image below. Afterwards, I just started finishing my introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. In addition, when finishing my first draft I revised it as well as from my instructor as shown in the black marks below. From the individual conference with my instructor, it is shown in the image that I needed to fix almost my whole introduction.…

Things like citations, in text citations, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and so on, have been improved over this semester. I have learned to use in text citations wisely to make my points sound stronger in my paragraphs. “Albert Einstein said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid’’”. This is quote is a perfect example of this because it made my point exceptionally stronger in my Extended Argument Essay.…

Over the course of this semester in my English 1320 class I have seen a drastic change throughout my writing style. Although I still have difficulties with a few writing tasks, I believe that I have improved significantly throughout this course. I have found that with my professor’s guidance along with my own personal editing that my grades have increased. Although it is difficult to not get caught up in simply striving for a letter grade or attaining a 4.0 grade point average, I would like to believe that my main goal was different. Of course I would love to achieve those goals as well, but overall my primary goal throughout this class was to become more relaxed and comfortable in my writings, to use new strategies and proper kinds of conventions, and to truly find a way to express my passion on these papers.…

When I began studying at the University of Montevallo, I had a background of high school creative writing and English classes, and one summer of a college English class. To be honest, I was terrified of jumping into my fall English 102 class. I felt I was unprepared for a serious college level composition class, and that I would have a strenuous time adjusting to a four-year university. However, as I walk away from my English 102 class I carry the understanding of writing a college level essay, undertaking research and completing a research and argument paper properly, and knowledge to prepare me for my other classes and profession.…

Since the first day of semester I have written about fifteen essays and my writing process have changed a little bit. Such as taking less time hand writing my essay and just going to the computer and typing it. But when I still research about what I am going to write about i just don 't hand write it down on a piece of paper. The thing that didn 't change was how I brainstorm my ideas and that is by being in a quiet room and the best time for me to brainstorm my ideas is middle of the day and likes to music playing. I think the biggest thing that have changed is my grammar in my paper before I would have other people look over my paper and they would suggest to change some sentence to make sense.…
