My relationship with engagement fluctuates. I wish to engage myself in activities provided by my school, or even programs outside of school, but I have no interest in them—I’m afraid of commitment. I don’t want to be disappointed or regret that I wasted my time on something I didn’t enjoy. I’m hoping to join the Honors Program at UHM to challenge myself to commit in an environment already meant to be engaging. After being immersed in this setting, I plan to use this skill in life to succeed at everything I try by staying focused and not giving up whether I enjoy it or not. I am a Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) student, and I live in Okinawa, Japan. My life is thus full of extra rules and regulations, such as not being allowed
