I was able to do this by creating a logical argument structure and by supporting my claims with reasons and evidence. For example, in the introduction of my “Rhetorical Analysis of Patricia Medici’s TED Talk” essay, I state that “As Medici progresses into her presentation she is very successful in reaching her audience by using ethos and pathos, but where she excels in these two modes of persuasion she lacks in logos” (1). I then continued to provide the readers with sufficient evidence as to why I made those claims. In paragraph 3 I support my claim of how she is successful in reaching her audience with the use of pathos by integrating quotes said by Patrícia Medici herself explaining how she feels about her topic. By doing this I was able to show how “passionate she is towards these animals with the diction she uses” (2). When discussing how she was able to reach her audience through the use of ethos I provided the reader with a quote in paragraph 4 that Patrícia Medici said about the years of experience she has obtained. By doing this I was able to show how her years of experience strengthens her argument by making her seem more credible. (3) Finally when supporting the claim of her not successfully reaching her audience through the use of logos I stated that “she does give her audience very …show more content…
The way I was able to integrate ethos, logos and kairos helped me create a stronger argument. For example, I was able to establish good ethos by demonstrating fairness to alternative viewpoints. I summarized opponents’ views respectively/courteously and did not shoot them down or be inconsiderate. This can mostly be seen in paragraph 5 of my classical argument paper where I summarize the opponents views and the respectively refute their argument by saying “It is true that pesticides can provide our crops with the protection they need, but genetically modified plants are capable of providing the same protection” (3). As you can see I did not insult or denigrate their view about the argument in anyway, instead I agreed with them and then continued to share my view on the topic at hand. Next, when discussing how logos helped my argument I will need to reference to the work that I submitted on my Microtheme
