My Reflection On The Writing Process

Improved Essays
This process journal is about how I come up with what I want to write for my process journals on a regular basis. Sometimes it is difficult to write the process journals because I am not sure which parts of my paper or assignment I should reflect upon. Other times I feel like I focus on reflecting one part of my paper. For example, sometimes I feel like I reflect too much on the writing process or the editing process. I initially look at the assignment that I am given and decide what part of that assignment I want to reflect upon. I try my best to alternate between the before, during, and after aspect of writing a paper where I focus on the organization part, the writing part and the editing part. If I have to write a process journal when I am starting to write a paper, I focus on how I am going to write my paper. This really helps especially when I am not sure how to write the paper because sometimes the process journal is how I get the idea on how to write the paper. The other time I write about the organization part is if I started a paper. For this situation it is far more easier to write about the organization steps I took prior to starting that paper. It also helps me revisit what I am planning to write and help …show more content…
This makes it easier to write about the process because I can clearly remember what I did to write that paper. I combine parts of the steps I took during organization and add how I took those steps to help me write the paper. In my writing process, I write about how I transformed the skeleton into a

Sometimes you are assigned to read articles for homework and they actually turn out to be helpful for you. Thats exactly what happened to me when I was assigned to read “Shitty First Drafts” by Anne Lamott, which caught my attention from its title. I wondered why is it called “shitty.” Anne Lamott explained how important it is to write shitty drafts before your writing becomes better. I thought to myself, I usually get B’s and C’s on my essays and Lamott says to become a good writer you must write shitty drafts first then why don 't I do that?…

The way I move through my own writing process is simple. I always start with research on a specific topic that an instructor gives me. I’m that kind of person that loves to highlight the important details of someone else’s information so I can admire her or his work in my papers. Then after finding the right amount of work to compose my own paper I start out with a title page.…

Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject. Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay.…

As well as that, my process for writing has grown more diverse. I no longer use the mapping method as I did as a young student. I preferably make lists and use discovery drafting as I did for this assignment. My goal with all of this is to expand my organization skills throughout the writing…

The most crucial step of my writing processes is letting my mind go wild and my fingers move freely. Whenever I write anything, I always let myself write whatever is on my mind at that exact second. Even if it doesn’t make 100% sense or isn’t exactly on topic, I’ll type it out. When I was writing my essay, I didn’t stop to fix anything until the very end. When I finished writing, I looked for mistakes.…

I have always struggled with writing essays and they’ve never come easily to me. I used to sit in my room, in the middle of the night, just staring at a screen, for what would feel like hours. Wondering, “When am I going to finish this paper, or even, start it?” The writing process is lengthy and has many steps, such as reading, brainstorming, creating an outline and a rough draft, editing, and finally having a final draft. These steps can help anyone write a decent and fully developed paper.…

1.1 Describe ways of recognising when a business problem exists Within our company, you can recognise if a business problem exists by observation. If you’re clients are leaving and if you are not getting new customers, then this is a way of recognising that a problem exists. In a larger company, I would imagine that they recognise business problems by keeping management reports on everything you do and then compare them with the businesses expectations. If anything is below the expectation then it should be looked into further to see where the problem is.…

Comments: Reading the first assigned reading sections of, "The Bedford Guide for College Writers", has already given me ideas of how to improve different writing strategies and techniques that can be difficult in writing college papers. Chapter one helps explain the process of writing of generating ideas, processing ideas, and the steps to constructing a good paper (6-15). For me, this is one of my struggles I have with writing. I tend to write in one sitting, rather than taking time between the steps of; planning, drafting, developing, revising, editing and proofreading. Doing this, I find that my planning strategy is not the best it could potentially be.…

Moreover, I have changed my writing style from disorder to well organized followed by the outline whenever I start a writing project. After taking ENG 107, I felt that it helps me to improve my writing not only for the writing projects in this course but also my other course. As I have been typing this essay though I have come to realize that I don’t like writing in the slightest other than for practice, it is too time consuming and it bores me. The part of writing that I seem to struggle with is writing itself. This is due to the fact that I don’t have much to say and once I have finished what I actually have to say I have trouble with coming up with more. The only part of writing that I would say that I excel at is the revision process. I have one writing goal, that being to have better grammar, other goals are financial.…
