As we sat down together, I immediately began asking her about her strengths that she believes makes her a successful teacher. Brenda confidently started talking about her strengths. She told me that her biggest strength as a teacher is reflection. She is positive that there is always room for improvement throughout her career. Consequently, Brenda stressed to me that no matter how successful you feel, or how wonderful people tell you are at your job, there is always a way to become greater and even more successful. To put it another way, she kept repeating, “Practice makes perfect, don’t ever forget that!” However, she still obtains weaknesses as a teacher. She went into detail about how all students are different and some activities or lessons will not catch nor hold the attention of multiple kids. I was almost positive that Brenda was going to tell me that she used technology as a way of keeping all eyes open. Surprisingly, she declared that she does a lot of group work and hands-on activities rather than lectures and use of technology. It was stressed that her students learn effectively when they are able to interact with their peers through discussion, whereas just looking at a screen and reading information by themselves.
