A couple of months ago, I wrote about how I struggle to create an interesting hook that captures my professor’s attention. Here I am, multiple months later and I still struggle to write the perfect hook. Am I okay with that? Actually, yes, because I know I grew in many other areas during this course. I believe I have progressed more than I have in any other English class. I recognize my weaknesses, and I have grown in numerous ways becoming a more experienced and successful writer. Throughout this semester, I have established who I am as a writer, reader, editor and rhetor. Learning how to be diverse within my writing was one key change that made my work stronger. My first reflection feedback included a suggestion to tell the reader more about myself. I needed to be more personal, meaningful and …show more content…
Sadly, I did not perform grade wise as well as I had hoped in this class, but that doesn’t mean I need to shut down and stop here. It actually has motivated me. Sometimes you need to break yourself down before you build yourself back up. I suppose that is exactly what this class did for me. I learned about all my weaknesses. Now I know where I need to improve and grow. Although I struggle with form and grammatical errors, I love to write, speak and express my own opinions. I am interested in taking a journalism class, or a presentational speaking class. These courses might better fit my strengths and force me to continue to work on my weaknesses. While my grade could have been better in this class, learning where I want to go in terms of future English courses is priceless. No advisor could tell me what this course taught me, to be myself and work hard to overcome my weaknesses. As I reflect, I do realize that I did get everything out of this class that I hoped. I grew in many ways, and came out of the class knowing who I am as a writer and how I can improve

On the first day of class, I felt pretty confident about my level of skills as a writer, but little did I know there were a lot of aspects in my writing that could be improved. As time progressed and we learned more about colloquial language and little things I could change in my essays to further advance and improve my writing. Now, I feel even more confident about my writing and know that all of these little changes I can make in my writing create a better flow of ideas and a higher level of formality. I feel that throughout this semester I have been greatly challenged as a writer and have advanced the most that I ever have in writing within such a short period of time. I have put in a lot time and effort into this class in order to create…

Critical reflection Reflecting back on what I have learnt about myself as a writer is that it is okay to be aware of your weaknesses and using the necessary tools to support and strengthen them. As a writer it is good to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with new genres. Let your writing take you on an emotional journey, and let your emotions lead your writing into a new journey. As a writer you need to expand your vocabulary and use powerful descriptive words to really create a mental image for your readers. I have learnt to understand the importance of sentence structure, drafting, and proof reading and not over using commas creating sentences that are too long.…

I was not an excellent writer at the beginning of the school year, but I can gladly say now that I have inherited more writing skills that I will benefit from in the future. One of those skills is being able to reflect on every angle on my topic to allow me to organize my ideas accurately. This skill is beneficial to learn, for it helped with my report essay to acquire the focus of my paper more clearly. Moreover, this skill helped me write papers in my other classes more easily and efficiently. Likewise, my voice can be read strongly throughout the personal narrative essay, because the passion I had for my topic was an emotional one.…
