I was #FreshOuttaJYIG and I was interested in learning more about what YIG was, but I had no idea what I was in for that weekend. The focus of fall SLC is learning to facilitate and teach, so all day Saturday we did workshops that focused on these elements of leadership. As our final assessment we were given a topic and a team and had to plan a lesson to teach to the rest of the delegates. Having the opportunity to stand in front of a room of senior YIG delegates was absolutely terrifying, but once I stood up and started giving my speech I settled into what I was saying and really started enjoying it. Afterwards I got such positive feedback

Throughout history the National Honor Society has become synonymous with the best of the best. A school club that has built a legacy on students who exemplify the ideals of leadership, service, character, and citizenship. To even be considered for a group of this nature would be an honor within itself. Leadership is simply defined as the action of leading a group of people or an organization however, I believe leadership to be much more than simply being in charge. True leadership is simply more than being bossy and I have learned this through my experiences within boy scouts.…

I would be a great candidate of the Anne M Dorner middle school chapter of the National Junior Honor Society because I demonstrate scholarship, service, character, citizenship, and leadership in my everyday life. Some of the committee has already noticed my scholarship because they have identified me as having a high academic performance. What the committee might not know is that I have been participating in the STEP program since 7th grade. My service to help the community of Ossining and to show service is by the following, altar service, soccer modified team manager, and I like to lead running and warm-ups for soccer. I also help in my school by helping classmates in what I can, and working in groups and getting the job done.…

But in fact, my experience depicts a quite harrowing and concerning aspect of presidency. In an interwoven city and school, creating close relationships was inevitable.…

As a leader in many after school activities such as Boy Scouts, Altar Serving, Ushering, and in my family, I believe that I would fit well in the National Honor Society. Boy Scouts, as well as Altar Serving, has taught me that others may not be up to date with the activity at hand, which means that you must tell them, and teach them the skills needed. Altar Serving and Boy Scouts need teamwork, and communication to be successful. Teamwork is what allows the process of different activities happen, and without teamwork everything would not be smooth or it would not work completely. Ushering and family life has taught me that you must work as a team, but by doing your own work, and making sure that everything is done when it is needed.…
