My Reflection Of Well-Being

Improved Essays
Well-being does not only pertain to one’s eating habits and exercise, instead, one’s well-being extends to a multitude of areas of one’s life. The McDonald Wellness Wheel reveals that these “slices” of wellness include the following: spiritual, emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, and social. It is easy to forget or disregard many of these areas, especially in the midst of adjusting to college and dealing with a heavy workload. However, in my new lifestyle at Notre Dame, I am learning to incorporate all of these into my thoughts and reflections on my own well-being.
To maintain the lifestyle of a healthy and balanced student, I strive to upkeep all of these areas in my life. For example, spiritually,

I have found myself sticking more closely to my emotions and flourishing in new situations and challenges. By managing my time well, I have managed to lessen the amount of stress in my life. Thus, by incorporating proportional amounts of time for work, solitude, and relaxation, I have been able to grow into a more emotionally healthy individual. In addition, talking and being open with my friends, as well as having fun with them, promotes my emotional well-being. I have been introduced to a myriad of resources that concern emotional well-being, including the counseling center, mindfulness activities, and campus ministry. Although I have yet to try all of these, I have found trips to the Snite Museum of Art to be calming and a helpful atmosphere for meditation and reflection, as well as inspiration by the artwork on display. Next year, I plan on utilizing more resources on campus to maintain my well-being. In addition, as Dr. Legerwood reveals that sometimes it is easy to get stuck in failures, I will try to employ her advice that "you have to work to see the upside” in …show more content…
I am involved in GreeND and Fossil Free ND, which both promote sustainability around campus. Activities I participate in these clubs involve hikes, fairs, forming of petitions, and attempts to reform Notre Dame’s sustainability plan. I plan to continue my work in these clubs next semester as well in hopes of improving the overall environment of campus and promoting the sustainability of the university.
Financially, I am often worried about paying off debt in the future. However, I avoid spending money on frivolous purchases in order to qualm some of my financial fears. I would like to work on campus, but my workload is too heavy these first semesters; however, I plan on being employed next year and beyond.
My intellectual well-being is actively stimulated through my classes each day. I greatly enjoy being faced with new problems to solve, being inspired by the creativity of others, and learning about topics I never even considered. To maintain this aspect of my life, I engage my mind through activities like I taking classes not focused solely on my intended major of environmental sciences, visiting the Snite Museum, explore research opportunities, and learning from my peers through intellectual conversations. I hope to maintain these activities next semester as well, but also desire to attend a play or musical performance in the future. In addition, my intellectual well-being

He has been working for the agency for 5 years now, and he is now working in the traffic section. Personal Statement There are several accomplishments that I consider important. One is the successful completion of military service. The two years I served in the 2nd Infantry Division was an unparalleled experience that cultivated me with duty, respect, courage, integrity, and discipline but most importantly, the determination to pursue my goals assiduously. The other one is completing my Capstone project in which I interned at the EPA region 10 to investigate the corporate social responsibility in the sports industry and what motivates sports teams to adopt sustainability. Subsequently, I worked as a sustainability intern at the University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletics Department.…

Maybe I’ve read too many popular young adult novels that feature futuristic dystopian societies where civilization is forced to survive in an environmentally decimated world or listened to too many debates on global warming. Regardless of the cause being real or imagined, we cannot deny that the polar ice caps are melting, weather patterns are shifting, trash is mounting and the earth’s natural resources are being consumed at an alarming rate.…

I find that the definition of happiness depends on the person and circumstances, and to me happiness is not a mere emotion that I wish to have every single moment in my life. Happiness is a relative term that some people consider an expected result of doing good deeds, and I believe it is a memorable feeling that lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of effort and always linked to a place in some way. In order to understand what happiness is, I looked into my past and tried to find out if there is a formula for happiness. From my perspective, the level of personal happiness fluctuates depending on the situation.…
