If someone would have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up when I was in elementary school I would have told them that I wanted to become a ballerina. However, if anyone asked me what I wanted to do after college while I was in high school I would have smiled and said I want to be a teacher. Every time I told someone that I wanted to be a teacher, I never recognized what being a teacher meant or entailed. In high school, I believed that being a teacher meant helping students learn through instruction. As I looked over the lesson plans in each unit it felt as if my role was going to be more of a facilitator than the image society had helped me created of a teacher. Honestly, I never thought I would ever be interested in being a teacher. All throughout my early childhood, I always wanted to be a doctor; I loved the idea of assisting others in their time of need and even saving their lives from time to time. Unfortunately, I realized as I got older that I really was not interested in (or good at) math or science; therefore, that dream died quite quickly. Having been fortunate enough to having supportive parents, I have always felt that I was able to experiment and pursue the subjects that interested me the most; however, I had no idea that my interests would revolve around the world of music. My passion for music and the education that I was lucky enough to have received have both made me strive to discover…
