Leadership Reflection
Leadership is one of the most widely talked about subjects and at the same time one of the most elusive and puzzling. I cannot express my lament and hate for this subject ever since I apply to business school at ECU. I am not dismissing leadership is unnecessary but the opposite. In this current chaotic world leadership is imperative to the communities, companies, the military, unions, universities, sports teams, and for the nation. However, we have a hypocritical love/hate views about power wielders and dislike anyone who tries to boss us around. My experience in leadership started way before I decide to take BUSI 1000-4200. My first application was at a youth conference, this 3 days conference is the encouragement for my development of followship as a leader because there is no way I can do and be everywhere at the same time. A followship is a social relationship between the leader, followers and the group. Followers should not be subservience or passive obedience to leader. The reason is a team is only as good as it weakest link. I discover that I must let other team members help me, as I am great at organization and lead other have to fill in creative and brainstorming role. It is a process whereby followers engage in critical thinking, and interact and support the leader to help achieve a task. To do this take trust from everyone this strengthen relationship which is very important in business culture because it drive synergy and efficiency across the whole organization. People work better with people they can trust and get along with. The interaction between leader and follower drive new ideas with many skills from one compliment other. Good followers are accountable and influence the leader’s views. In tough time they can even substitute for the leader. My success was twofold the conference force teamwork in which relationship must be build and maintain for all the team challenges. This leadership event have a lasting impact on me. The conferences and mission are momentary events, but I still regard them as one of the most influential undertaking in my leadership

I am an RA at Northern Kentucky University. As an RA, I help students transition to college and help them understand how to live on their own away from parents. It is my duty to enforce University Housing policy- to ensure the safety of students plus maintain a positive learning environment. As an RA, I have developed a unique set of skills because I get to work with students to ensure they are receiving a full well rounded college experience while enforcing rules that some tend to break. This can be challenging because I still have to live with them unlike police; for example, they get to go home after they interact with someone so they don’t have to deal with it when their job is over.…

    1. After reflecting on who or what event provided me with leadership influence I concluded there wasn’t one person or one event that has had the most effect on me to strive to become a better leader or person for that matter. Many of my past supervisors and present alike have been good and bad with more good than bad. I attempt to take pieces from each of their leadership qualities, use things I liked and stayed away from their “bad” leadership qualities I did not believe helped me grow as a leader or produce quality jobs or mission results. All the while, my own personality and beliefs intertwined with their leadership styles to make me who I am today as a leader.…

Introduction As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7).…
