My understanding of religion has changed a great deal this semester. When we first started the semester I didn’t know the numerous numbers of religions in the world. The only religions I was aware of were Christianity, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Judaism. I did not know that Christianity had different dominations, especially not as many as I learned about. Coming into the class I expected to discuss the different religions of the world and the perspectives of the followers. In the class we talked about this and the ties of different religions in politics. In class there were many discussions about different religions roles in voting. Such as how a certain religion would vote based off of past analyzations of voting polls and the religions views. …show more content…
This class exposed me to different religions. It also exposed me to many different aspects of religion. Some aspects of religion are their practices, ritual, and beliefs in supernatural beings. These are no where near the vast amount of aspects of religions, it’s merely a snapshot. As the amount of classes I attended increased so did my understanding of different religions. I was able to relate the aspects of different religions with the affects of different religions on the world. For example in Buddhism to goal in life is to do good, so that in your reincarnation you will come back as something good. This has definitely played a great role in my understanding of religion. I learned that respect plays a huge role in how different religions perceive other religions. When a religion is respectable of another religion viewpoints or perspectives they are able to see why that religion holds their values. They are also able to see why they have such perspectives and viewpoints. It is important to respect others religion because those beliefs are important to them. Although, we may not agree with that religions viewpoints or perspectives on a given subject, there could be other beliefs, viewpoints, or perspectives that a person from a different religion does agree
