High School Reflection

When you reflect on something it usually means that you are looking into the past on an issue that you could change or maybe just looking back on an issue and realizing that there is more than just one way you could have done it and have a different outcome, but in this case I have to reflect on my high school career. High School for me is a thing that I would love to forget and is a thing I forget to love. High school has had ups and downs, but it has shown me how to have fun and be stressed out all at the same time. From freshman to senior year it has been a roller coaster of laughs and cries and not knowing what day or month it is, yet knowing when the next three day weekend is going to be. Academic wise, school is, needless to say, not so bad, the only time when school is over the top stressful is when finials roll around the corner and everyone is trying to get their grade up to at least passing. I like to think that I can see my future based on the decisions that I make now because the choices that I am making now will set up how my future will look like, so if I make poor choices then my life won 't be the best it can be and if I make positive choices then it would be a lot better than making the wrong ones. When I am in the future I want to be reflecting on all the good that has happened in the past like, education, friends and my work ethic. Reflecting on my future, well pre-reflecting, I want to be able to look on my past and say that I can look back and say that I wouldn 't change a thing about the choices that I made. Most people that I know of think back and wish that they could do something, anything to change what they did in the past, but I would hope that I can go into the future without wanting to look back and wish that I could have changed some of the decisions that I had made. I want my future to be either the present or the future, not the

Thought most of the time I spent think about the past I was always staring up, weather it was the sky or the ceiling, but I never found it present. I found out that I don’t really don’t like thinking about the past, but I always find myself thinking about my past very often, whether it’s a desire to think about what I could have done differently or just thoughts that I can’t get away from. Nonetheless I find my thoughts and my reasons for doing different things interesting. The future doesn’t change, at least that what I find myself thinking my past or rather how I was erased effected how I saw the future. As a child I didn’t like to think about change, so knowing that the future will bring nothing but change scored me.…

As I came to college, my family and I anticipated I would be following a simple mold of a conscientious student. One that is highly focused in some limited number of long term goals. Don 't get me wrong, this only meant that I had high expectations out of my college education. For some people, this path leads them to great success. But, I slowly realized my vision of success needed to have stories from different roads and bridges, than just one simple path.…

I believe that we live in a very competitive society today. High school students are put under a tremendous amount of stress to be the “best of the best”. Many of my peers feel if they do not take every AP class offered and graduate with perfect grades then they will never be able to succeed. Due to schedules overloaded with AP classes, students have little to no time outside of school and often forgo the importance of finding balance by participating in the liberal arts.…

Starting out my first semester in my undergraduate studies, I was so confident, believing that I would never become behind on assignments and will spend a tremendous amount of time studying. Unknowingly, I became behind on picking a preview date and was left with only a limited amount of open classes. While attending the preview, I was given a plan from DegreWorks that was filled with courses recommended for me my first semester. One of the courses apart of the plan was UNIV 150. After being unsure about the course, I did some further investigation on what I would be learning and then I asked myself, “Why do I need to take a course about college writing when I primarily took Pre-AP classes throughout high school? ”…

Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

Written language is a trait known to be only possessed by mankind. Although other species may have audible forms of communication, man is able to record and document his thoughts, feelings, or events that have unfolded in a way that can be viewed multiple times without him having to use his voice over and over. Literacy is a skill that adults in the United States are expected to have; but the level of your literacy says a lot about you and can have a tremendous impact on what career you end up in. For this reason, this college English class is a requirement for all those seeking a degree. Teaching is one of the most critical aspects of education that cannot be done without experience. It is one thing to learn about what occurs in a classroom and it is the other to practice teaching and experience what goes on in the classroom by yourself. As a student who is interested in going into secondary education, working at Ithaca High School AVID Program as a part of the course introduced me to what I would experience about 5 years from now. Most times it brought me back to when I was in high school which overall affected many different decisions I made regarding how students should learn and ultimately be on a path to success.…
