I can now site anything from a website to a magazine without a computer. I can detect parts of a sentence and add or remove commas. I know how to properly quote in an essay, how to format the two different kinds of quotations inside the essay, and many more. My skills have increased, the papers I write not only for this course, but for others I take as well. She just taught in a way that I understood. She would give us a practice worksheet and groups, then we would each go to the board and write it when we sat down we talked about what the answer was and why. Also, as we would write essays there would be 3 or 4 times we revised our essays to insure good quality papers. Peer review really helped me understand what teachers might look for in the essay and it’s a chance to revise more essays than just my own to improve the skills. Another major skill I noticed, is to use the library’s website to find scholarly journals which had better and more accurate information and was very trust-worthy for college essays. This skill was important and made a huge impact in my papers, throughout the semester. My first essay was a great example of my old writing and how much it has improved over the course of the semester. The word choice was poor, the grammar wasn’t edited, the paragraphs were in the wrong order. I was truly confused on the requirements that English 1101 brought to the table. Although it did teach me how to create my own interview questions and how to conduct a proper interview, it was a requirement for the paper. Which is what kick started the train to success in writing
