Proving this to my babies shows them they can achieve anything because their mother did it. Graduating college was a huge success for me, but I felt a hunger to go higher than I’ve ever expected. I have a very busy life. Going to college the first time around I was able to get a home care certification as a short- term goal to support my family and I so all the finances won’t fall on my husband. This time around to get my bachelor’s degree I do want to work full time and attend school.…
Growing up is was no question whether or not I was going to college, it was an automatic yes for me. No one had to ever ask me if I was going to college because they all knew that the answer is yes. Purpose of a College Education Enrolling in college was not a decision that I took lightly, but is one of the most important decisions I have ever had to make. Taking college classes and working towards a degree is something I want to achieve. Attending college was a heated and an important part of my divorce decree. Recognizing the privilege that I have of being able to continue learning, achieving and stretching my limits is appreciated. Because of the fortunate circumstances that I have, to live in a country where I can attend college and have the same chance at success that everyone else has been one reason I enrolled in college.…

Returning to college has been a long, emotional journey for me. When I was younger I had my life planned out believing it was God’s will also. I married my husband at the age of twenty and together we entered the ministry field. God blessed us with three wonderful kids and laid upon our hearts the notion of homeschooling. Since that time I have been a homeschooling mother and a pastor’s wife.…
Hey, I didn’t do that the first time I went to college. So, as always, when I am pondering one of life’s questions, I turn to the internet for research. I stumbled upon these answers to a poll given to online students from Arizona State University. It wasn’t really a surprise to me but, with the convenience of online education and an abundance of outstanding choices, more moms are willing, and even more so, having a desire, to head back to school.…

I never thought that I would go back to school so late in life. It has the same demands as a small child. The one good thing is, instead of being nagged by a teacher wanting you to finish your homework; you are on your own and held accountable by student loans. I am eligible for grants but due to my financial situation, I have taken out student loans. They help a lot…

However, I have chosen to return to school after thirteen years. My family is the motivation for me to go college no matter the obstacles. My children will not be hungry, not being in debt. An incident that made me feel the truth of the proverb “it’s better late than never” was my decision to return to school. My family of six resided in Bay d’Espoir, a picturesque small town with an average population of eight hundred people located on the South Coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. My parents still live in our family home today overlooking a scenic view of the ocean. Being the youngest and only girl to three brothers all of whom left home after high school to explore employment opportunities made me put my life in perspective and recognize I wanted more. Even though, obtaining a college diploma was an achievement, I feel continuing with post-secondary education today gives me the true value that when something happens later in life, it is not always a bad thing.…
My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…
